What do these rankings mean?
Niche Standout rankings recognize public schools making a difference in their communities. They consider academic outcomes, diversity, and student and parent reviews, with particular attention to outcomes for economically disadvantaged and minority students. Eligible schools must have an overall Niche grade of B or higher and at least 50% economically disadvantaged students.

We are proud to announce that TMSA Apex has been recognized among North Carolina’s Top 10 schools in its category for consideration for the prestigious 2026 National ESEA Distinguished Schools Award!

Based on 2025–26 academic performance data from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, this recognition highlights the dedication of our students, educators, and school community to academic excellence.

What to expect:

Last Friday and Saturday, TMSA Public Charter Schools brought together our Board Members and Leadership Team in Raleigh for the Annual Board Retreat, focused on meaningful conversations about the future of our schools.

Throughout the retreat, the Board focused on TMSA’s 2030 Strategic Plan, engaging in thoughtful discussions around our long-term goals, priorities, and the action plans that will help move our organization forward.

These conversations reflected our shared commitment to continuous improvement, academic excellence, college and career readiness, and providing the best possible opportunities for every TMSA student.

The two-day retreat provided valuable time for our Board and Leadership Team to collaborate, align priorities, and continue refining the path toward TMSA 2030.

Together, we are planning today and building toward a stronger future for TMSA.

Principals’ Day of Synergy at TMSA

TMSA Public Charter Schools brought together our Principals and Executive Team for a full day of learning, collaboration, and alignment during our Principals’ Day of Synergy.

The day featured comprehensive HR training covering the full employee lifecycle—from recruitment, hiring, and onboarding to professional development, performance management, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and offboarding.

Beyond training, our school leaders worked together to examine current practices, identify opportunities for greater consistency across campuses, and develop ideas for stronger, systemwide procedures that support both our employees and our schools.

Days like this give our leaders dedicated time to learn from one another, strengthen shared practices, and ensure that our campuses and Central Office continue moving forward together.

A big thank you to our Principals, Executive Team, and HR team for their engagement, thoughtful discussions, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Recently, TMSA leaders came together for an inspiring Principals’ Day of Synergy, bringing together principals from all 11 TMSA campuses and our Executive Team around a shared purpose: shaping the future of TMSA through Vision 2030.

The day provided an important opportunity for our leadership team to collaborate, exchange ideas, reflect on our priorities, and continue developing the strategic direction that will guide TMSA in the years ahead.

A special thank you to Dr. Setser, Director of Innovation & Strategic Growth, and Maria Mills, Director of Data, Assessment and Accountability, for facilitating an engaging and productive strategic planning work session.

Vision 2030 is more than a plan—it is our collective commitment to strengthening our schools, supporting our students and staff, and building a stronger and more innovative TMSA for the future.

On September 21, we join communities around the world in recognizing the International Day of Peace.

At TMSA, we believe peace begins with respect, understanding, empathy, and the way we treat one another every day. In our classrooms and school communities, we encourage students to listen, learn from different perspectives, resolve differences with kindness, and grow into responsible global citizens.

This occasion also gives us a meaningful opportunity to highlight an important upcoming event in our community: TMSA Peace Forum 2026. (https://www.tmsapeaceforum.org/)

On Friday, October 9, 2026, the TMSA Peace Forum will bring high school students together to explore one of the defining questions of our shared future: Can peace exist without sustainable development? Through dialogue, reflection, and student engagement, the Forum will create space for young people to think deeply about peace, responsibility, and the future they want to build.

The following day, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, the conversation will continue through the TMSA Peace Festival, bringing students, families, and communities together to celebrate peace, understanding, belonging, and community.

As a proud North Carolina school community, we believe in raising a new generation of peace builders—students who are ready to build bridges, strengthen communities, and help shape a better future.

Happy Labor Day to the TMSA family! 🎉

This Labor Day, we're celebrating exciting news: following North Carolina's 2025–26 School Performance Grades, all four TMSA schools showed real academic strength and forward momentum — highlighted by two "A"-rated campuses, strong graduation results, and continued improvement across the system. Just as exciting, our schools' growth scores rose compared to last year, proof that our hard work together is paying off.

This success belongs to all of us — our teachers, support staff, school leaders, families, and students alike. At TMSA, we are truly United in Purpose, and today's results show what that purpose can achieve.
