🔥APEX FIRE MAKES HISTORY🔥

For the first time in our history, the Apex Fire Department has achieved Accredited Agency status through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI)!

This recognition is the result of a journey that began in 2018 and years of hard work, comprehensive self-assessment and a commitment to continually improving how we serve Apex.

But what does accreditation mean for our residents?

It means your fire department has undergone an extensive, independent review of how we operate, respond to emergencies, plan for the future and serve our community. It means we are measuring our performance against internationally recognized standards, identifying what we do well and, just as importantly, where we can continue to improve.

For our residents, it means having a fire department committed to providing the highest level of service today while preparing for the needs of a growing Apex tomorrow.

Apex Fire is now among more than 300 internationally accredited agencies through CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence. We are also part of an even more exclusive group: fewer than 130 fire departments worldwide hold both CFAI accreditation and a Class 1 ISO rating.

That is something our entire community can be proud of. ❤️

To every member of Apex Fire who dedicated countless hours to this process: thank you. This achievement reflects your professionalism, dedication and commitment to the residents we serve.

And thank you to the Commission on Fire Accreditation International and Center for Public Safety Excellence for helping agencies like ours continually raise the bar.

Achieving this standard is a milestone, not a finish line. We’ll continue striving for excellence and raising the bar for the residents we serve, because that’s what we do in the Peak of Good Living.

You may not always see it, but we’re working.

Yesterday, Engine 31 responded to a vehicle fire at the intersection of E. Williams Street and S. Salem Street. Crews arrived to find a fire in the engine compartment and quickly deployed a hose line to extinguish it.

Just another day of answering the call and serving our community.

First Responders Day was a SUCCESS!

A huge thank you to Town of Apex Fire Department, Apex Police Department, Wake County EMS and Duke Life Flight for joining us and sharing your stories, equipment, and experiences with our riders! We’re so grateful for the time you spent with our community. ❤️

And a BIG thank you to all of our riders! Both trains sold out, and your support helps make it possible for New Hope Valley Railway to continue our restoration and preservation efforts. 🚂

This event was so much fun, and we’re already looking forward to doing it again next year!

How do Apex Firefighters ensure their trucks are ready to respond in an emergency? With a daily, 300-step truck inspection!

In this month's Meet the Team, Town Manager Randy Vosburg stops by Station 6 to perform the full inspection alongside Captain Fuller and Firefighter Phillips. From oil to oxygen masks and everything in between, AFD demonstrates preparedness down to the smallest detail, ensuring the fire apparatus and its crew are ready to roll when calls come in.

Camp Ignite 2026 is officially a wrap—and these girls showed up, worked hard, got dirty, and absolutely crushed it! 🔥💪👩‍🚒

That's a wrap on Camp Ignite 2026.

For five incredible days, we watched young women climb ladders they never thought they could, operate fire hoses, learn rescue techniques, build confidence, and discover that they belong in places they may have never imagined themselves before.

Camp Ignite has always been about including girls in a profession where they have historically been underrepresented. Representation matters. When a young girl sees women wearing the uniform, leading crews, driving apparatus, and serving their community, something powerful happens: she begins to believe that she can do it too.

Every camper who walked through our doors this week left knowing that strength isn't defined by gender. Courage isn't defined by gender. Service isn't defined by gender. If they choose this path one day, they absolutely have what it takes.

If even one camper leaves Camp Ignite believing, "I can do this," then we've accomplished exactly what we set out to do.
To every firefighter, instructor, volunteer, department, and family who helped make this week unforgettable—thank you. And to our campers: never let anyone tell you where you do or don't belong.
We'll be cheering you on every step of the way.
