The Manatee Viewing Center’s mission is to educate the public about the Florida manatee and its habitat. The center is a state and federally designated manatee sanctuary. During the center’s open season, Nov. 1 through April 15, displays, interactive exhibits and more teach visitors of all ages about the life cycle of the manatee and the challenges it faces. Center volunteers and staff, many of them TECO Energy retirees, answer questions and provide additional educational information.

🌊 Happy World Oceans Day!

Celebrated each year on June 8, World Oceans Day highlights the vital role our oceans play in supporting life on Earth and inspires action to protect marine ecosystems for future generations.

At the Manatee Viewing Center, we're proud to help connect people with the wonders of Tampa Bay through environmental education, wildlife viewing and conservation awareness. From manatees and sea turtles to fish, rays and coastal birds, the center offers visitors a chance to learn about the species and habitats that depend on healthy oceans and waterways.

Today, and every day, we celebrate the importance of protecting our marine environment for generations to come.
