Adding to your family through adoption is now even sweeter. Eligible families who adopted may soon receive up to $5,000 from the . Under the new The U.S. Department of the Treasury rules, families that had adoption credit carryforward from tax years 2020-2024 on their 2025 returns can use that credit to increase the refundable portion of the Adoption Tax Credit. We're adjusting the accounts of eligible taxpayers. If you're affected, you'll receive a notice from us within 30 days of the adjustment.
