On Friday, Sept. 9th, Officer Yard and K9 Bergil were requested to assist multiple agencies in South St. Paul to search for a suspect who was believed to be armed with knives and violent with law enforcement. The suspect fought with an officer and fled while the officer was trying to take him into custody. Multiple knives and hatchets were located in the suspects vehicle.

Officer Yard and K9 Bergil began to search the area. K9 Bergil started searching north through front and back yards of the houses in the immediate area. He pulled Officer Yard across the street, into an alley, and began to show interest in a garage nearby. K9 Bergil began to bark at the garage door alerting officers to the presence of a person inside. Officers went to the other side of the garage, opened the service door, and located the suspect inside the garage. He was taken into custody without incident. Thanks to K9 Bergil for keeping officers and the public safe by finding the suspect whose behavior was unpredictable and potentially violent.

Officer Yard and his partner Bergil assisted Eagan PD looking for 2 male suspects who fled on foot from a stolen vehicle near Cedar Avenue and Diffley Rd. The call started at approximately 1330 hours on 8/8/22, and lasted approximately 2 hours from start to finish. Both Officer Yard and Bergil worked with Eagan Officers, State Patrol, and Burnsville Officers attempting to locate the 2 suspects. Officer Yard and Bergil were able to successfully track down both suspects at different times during the call to wooded areas where they were still hiding from Law Enforcement. Both Officer Yard and Bergil had plenty of burrs stuck to them to show for it. Thanks to their efforts 2 robbery suspects were taken into custody without incident or bites.

It’s not much, but that “CAUTION K9” wasn’t there a few weeks back. One of my partners forgot about Bergil in the back. Almost let him out and added chaos to a crime scene. Thanks to we hope that won’t happen again.
