Hold onto those graduation yard signs! 🎓

Corrugated plastic signs create a lot of waste during graduation season, but you can help reduce it.

Dakota County cities will offer special drop-off locations for yard signs this fall. If possible, please hold onto plastic signs and metal stakes until the collection period.

♻️🔜 Drop-off info will be posted on the Dakota Valley Recycling website once available: DakotaValleyRecyclingMN.gov

Collected signs will be recycled by Choice Plastics, a Minnesota-based recycler, and turned into new products. Metal stakes will be recycled as scrap metal through the Recycling Zone.

Multiple private utility and telecommunications companies are currently expanding fiber optic infrastructure throughout Apple Valley. Here’s what you need to know.

💬 Who is responsible for this work?
Work is being completed by Metronet, Frontier, and Gigapower. Under Minnesota law, these providers are allowed to work within the public right-of-way after obtaining the required permits. The City did not initiate these projects or hire these companies.

💬 Why are there white lines and colored flags on my property?
The white lines show the anticipated location of underground fiber installation and the colored flags mark underground utilities. It’s important to leave the flags in place to help prevent damage to underground utilities.

💬 How long does fiber installation take?
Installation work is typically completed within about a week once started, though restoration work may take longer. The City does not manage the schedule or pace of the work.

💬 Who is responsible for repairs or restoration?
The companies performing the work are responsible for restoration of impacted areas, including grass, irrigation systems, invisible fences, asphalt, concrete, and other affected property within the project area.

💬 Where should questions or complaints be directed?
Questions, concerns, and restoration issues should be directed to the company performing the work.

💬 Where can I see current or planned fiber activity?
The City is maintaining a webpage with weekly fiber installation updates from each provider including completed work, scheduled work, and restoration corrections.

➡️ See updates and find contact information related to fiber installation projects at: AppleValleyMN.gov/Fiber.
