If you're looking for a great way to celebrate, join the Town of Apple Valley this evening at the Freedom Festival at Brewster Park from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Enjoy live entertainment, family activities, food vendors, and a spectacular professional fireworks show to close out the evening.

As you celebrate today, please remember that all fireworks are illegal in Apple Valley. Help protect our community, our first responders, our pets, and our veterans by leaving the fireworks to the professionals.

While fireworks may be exciting for people, they can be frightening for our pets. Every year, animal shelters see an increase in lost dogs around Independence Day as frightened pets escape yards, homes, and fences after being startled by loud fireworks.

If you're celebrating this weekend, here are a few ways to help keep your pets safe:

Keep pets indoors during fireworks.
Make sure collars and ID tags are up to date.
Close windows and consider playing music or white noise to help mask loud sounds.
Give them a safe, comfortable place where they can relax.

How the Fireworks Citation Process Works
Apple Valley Fire Protection District is committed to protecting our community during the Fourth of July holiday.
To help enforce the District's fireworks ordinance, administrative citations may be issued for illegal fireworks violations. Here's what residents should know:
✔ Administrative citations are not issued based solely on complaints.
✔ Fireworks violations must be personally observed by Fire District personnel or law enforcement.
✔ Administrative citations will be issued to the current property owner listed through the San Bernardino County Tax Assessors office.
✔ Administrative citations carry a minimum fine of $1,000.
✔ Citations may be issued in person or through the District's contactless citation process.
✔ Administrative citations may be appealed through an independent third-party hearing process.

Our goal is to educate our community and prevent fires, injuries, and property damage. Administrative citations are one of the tools used to help keep Apple Valley safe.
By leaving fireworks to the professionals and attending a public fireworks show, you can help keep our community safe this Independence Day.

For many of us, fireworks are a tradition that marks Independence Day. For others, including many veterans, individuals living with PTSD, and those with sensory sensitivities, the loud and unexpected sounds of fireworks can be stressful and overwhelming.
As we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday, let's also remember those who have served our country and continue to carry the invisible wounds of military service.
One simple way to show respect is to leave fireworks to the professionals and attend a community fireworks show instead.
