Apple Valley Police Activities League

Apple Valley Police Activities League AVPAL offers several different programs to youth in the Town of Apple Valley.

The Town of Apple Valley Police Department created the Apple Valley
Police Activities League (AVPAL) in 2003, which is a non-profit organization. AVPAL is funded through support from the community, grants, through a partnership with the Town of Apple Valley and the Apple Valley Police Department. The mission of AVPAL is to unite law enforcement and communities by providing youth programs that dev

elop discipline, positive self-image, mutual trust, and respect. These programs were developed after seeing a need for children of the community to learn proper skills to be a successful and productive part of society. The programs range from the PAL Gym to the intervention program known as S.H.O.C.K.

Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Safety Tips

* Try to use machines located inside banks. Have your ATM card ready and in your hand as you approach the ATM. Don't wait to get to the ATM and then take your card out of your wallet or purse

* Be aware of your surroundings, particularly at night. If you observe or sense suspicious persons or circumstances, do not use the machine at that time. If you must use an ATM after hours, make sure it's well-lighted

* Visually inspect the ATM for possible skimming devices. Potential indicators can include sticky residue or evidence of an adhesive used by criminals to affix the device, scratches, damaged or crooked pieces, loose or extra attachments on the card slot, or noticeable resistance when pressing the keypad.

* Do not count or visually display any money you received from the ATM. Immediately put your money into your pocket or purse and count it later.

February class is now forming. For more information, please contact Deputy Whitecloud at [email protected] or call (760)240-7400 ext. 7416

Plan Ahead This Holiday Season: Be Safe and Drive Sober

Millions of people will be traveling to visit friends and family over the holidays. We encourage everyone to celebrate safely and have a holiday game plan that includes a designated sober driver.

Drunk driving is a problem on our nation's roads every day, but it's more prevalent during the holidays. During the 2016-2020 December months, there were more than 4,400 people killed in drunk-driving-related crashes.

DUI Doesn't Just Mean Booze. Prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs and ma*****na can also impair, especially in combination with alcohol and other drugs.

We want everyone to be safe and enjoy the holiday. Make sure you plan ahead and have a safe, sober ride home because driving impaired should never be an option.
