The purpose of the Outagamie County Highway Department is threefold. First, the Department constructs and maintains the county trunk highway system (Lettered Highways: County A, County B, etc.) for the safe, convenient, and efficient movement of vehicles within Outagamie County. Second, the Department provides good quality, cost-effective roadway maintenance and construction services to the State

of Wisconsin and local municipalities for state highways (Numbered Highways: Hwy 41, Hwy 441, Hwy 96, etc.) and local road systems (Named Roads). Finally, the Department plans, programs, and implements necessary county trunk highway improvements to efficiently accommodate increased traffic demands generated from area growth, and to enhance economic development and new job growth in Outagamie County.

Highway maintenance taking place in Northeast Wisconsin
Traffic impacts for maintenance work the week of June 1

(Northeast Wisconsin) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces state highway maintenance work in Northeast Wisconsin and associated traffic impacts. Maintenance operations are typically performed in spot locations within the project limits. Traffic impacts do not typically affect the entire highway limits of the maintenance project or throughout the project’s entire duration.

Outagamie County
• Maintenance crews will be repairing pavement between WIS 125 and the south county line on Thursday, June 4 from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. A moving lane closure will be used during repairs.

WIS 76 public construction information meeting June 3 for Stage 2 work in Greenville
WIS 76/County JJ roundabout construction begins

(Greenville WI) – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces a WIS 76 public construction information meeting at 5 p.m., Wednesday, June 3 at the Greenville Village Hall, Greenville, Outagamie County. This meeting will focus on Stage 2 construction and traffic impacts beginning in June OF 2026.

WIS 76 Public Construction Information Meeting
• When: 5 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2026
• Where: Greenville Village Hall, W6860 Parkview Dr., Greenville, WI 54942
The purpose of the meeting is to provide details on the project schedule, operations, and traffic impacts for work in the WIS 76/County JJ intersection. WisDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and address concerns following a brief presentation.
Traffic Impacts
WIS 76 between Everglade Road and County JJ is closed to through traffic for roadway reconstruction, with detours in place, until November 2026. A second detour will follow the first detour after Stage 1 work.
• Current Stage 1
o Stage 1 detour for WIS 76 Everglade Road to County JJ reconstruction:
 Detour via WIS 15 to County JJ to WIS 76.
• June 8, 2026, to November 2026: June 8, Stage 2 detour will replace the Stage 1 detour.
o Stage 2 detour for WIS 76 Everglade Road to County JJ including the County JJ intersection.
 Detour via WIS 15 to County JJ to Oak Street to County M to County S to WIS 76.
• Access to properties and businesses within the work zone will be always maintained.

Project Overview
This is a $9.3 million contract to reconstruct the rural roadway to an urban roadway. Work includes a new roundabout intersection, new sidewalk, storm water improvements at Valley Pond and a new stormwater pond near Hillview Drive. Please see the project website for all construction operations.

Ramps to remain open until summer

(Appleton) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region reminds motorists that a long-term CLOSURE of WIS 47/Richmond Street over I-41 in the city of Appleton, Outagamie County, begins tomorrow, Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The bridge will remain closed until fall 2026. No vehicles will be allowed to pass.

Traffic impacts – Week of May 19
• WIS 47/Richmond Street bridge over I-41 will be CLOSED on Tuesday, May 19 through fall 2026.
• Northbound I-41 on and off-ramps are scheduled to close in late June through fall 2026.
• Southbound I-41 on and off-ramps are scheduled to close in mid-July through fall 2026.

WIS 47/Richmond St. Overpass
Work includes reconstructing the WIS 47/Richmond Street interchange as a diverging diamond interchange (DDI) to accommodate higher traffic volumes, increase safety, and include additional bike and pedestrian accommodations.
This work is part of the overall I-41 major project that will reconstruct and expand 23 miles of I-41 from four lanes to six lanes between WIS 96 (Wisconsin Avenue) in Appleton and County F (Scheuring Road) in De Pere.

Northbound I-41 between WIS 96 and WIS 47 CLOSED in Outagamie County
Closure due to emergency pavement repairs

(Appleton) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces northbound I-41 WIS 96/Wisconsin Avenue and WIS 47/Richmond Street will be closed today, Wednesday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Outagamie County. Crews are repairing pavement in the work zone.

• Northbound I-41 between WIS 96/Wisconsin Avenue and WIS 47/Richmond Street CLOSED from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
o Detour: WIS 96/Wisconsin Ave. east to County A/Lynndale Dr. north to County OO/Northland Ave east to WIS 47/Richmond St. north
