The southbound I-41 on-ramp from Scheuring Road/County F opened to traffic earlier today!

🚧 Open to Traffic – Northbound I-41 ramps at WIS 47 🚧

All NB I-41 ramps at WIS 47/Richmond Street in Appleton are now open to traffic! Crews reconstructed the ramps this year to create a wider, safer roadway for all users. The WIS 47/Richmond Street bridge over I-41 will remain closed through late fall 2026.

Public meetings scheduled for the I-41 Project in Outagamie County
Two opportunities to attend
(Appleton) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces two opportunities to attend the public meetings — one held virtually online and one in-person meeting for the proposed improvements on the 23 miles of I-41 from WIS 96 (Wisconsin Avenue) in Appleton to County F (Scheuring Road) in De Pere in Outagamie County and Brown County. The meetings will be held on Tuesday, October 27 and Wednesday, November 4.

I-41 EXPANSION PUBLIC MEETINGS
• In-person Public Meeting - Tuesday, October 27 from 5-7 p.m.
o Location: Fox Valley Technical College - D.J. Bordini Center, 5 N. Systems Drive, Appleton, Wis.
• Virtual Public Meeting - Wednesday, November 4 at 5 p.m.

The purpose of the meetings is to recap construction work completed in 2026 and provide an overview of upcoming construction in 2027, share a tentative construction timeline, and provide an update on project aesthetics. A question-and-answer session will be available for all participants (in-person and online) immediately following the presentations.

The I-41 project website includes interactive maps of the project limits and location, proposed scope and schedule, displays and exhibits, and an opportunity for the public to provide comment.

🚧 OVERNIGHT FULL CLOSURES-Week of Oct 19 🚧

Drivers can expect numerous overnight full freeway closures in Outagamie and Brown County this week as crews begin to reopen ramps, work on pipe crossings, set girders and more!

WisDOT’s award-winning Projects Hub makes transportation project info easier to find, access and share

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) received a 2026 Government Experience (GovX) Award from the Center for Digital Government for its WisDOT Projects Hub, a newly launched open data website for WisDOT improvement project information.

The WisDOT Projects Hub provides an easy-to-use, one-stop destination for highway and bridge project information. Users can search data-rich interactive maps and find links to hundreds of individual project sites that provide timely information on what’s under construction as well as what’s in planning phases.

“The WisDOT Projects Hub reflects our commitment to transparency, innovation and providing useful information about the work happening in communities across Wisconsin,” WisDOT Secretary Kristina Boardman said. “The GovX recognition is an honor that speaks to our teams’ work bringing forward new ideas, leveraging technology and improving how we share information about our projects. We’re committed to developing effective ways to serve the people of Wisconsin and deliver a transportation system that supports our state’s future.”

Beginning in 2027, WisDOT will start phasing out legacy systems and transition existing project pages to the WisDOT Projects Hub as its primary resource for project websites. 🚧 Oversize/Overweight (OS/OW) Permit Holders🚧

Oversize/Overweight (OS/OW) permit holders traveling the I-41 corridor between Grand Chute and De Pere should plan ahead for active construction zones. High-attention areas include locations with narrowed lanes, reduced shoulders, lane shifts, temporary barrier walls, active workers and equipment, and changing traffic patterns.

Loads with width, height, length, or other overhangs should use extra caution, as narrowed lanes combined with wider loads require additional preparation and attention. Review route options in advance and be aware of work zone signs, speed limits, and flagging operations.
