Today is the last full day to talk to voters about issues on the ballot tomorrow. I believe that I have articulated a message that shows my understanding of the issues in our community and how hard I'll work to make sure that we are doing right by the people of Appleton. I'll be out there today so if I haven't talked to you and you see me feel free to stop me for a chat.

I had a wonderful conversation around affordable housing here in Appleton. Like the rest of the country housing prices are leaving many behind here because of a lack of inventory. The city can work towards a solution without raising taxes for residents. Many municipalities across the country are levying taxes on Airbnb and VRBO. Many of these houses are sitting empty for much of the year only adding to the issues with housing inventory. This revenue can then be used on programs to make housing affordable.

A good number of people I talk to at doors tell me the current council is doing a great job for the city of Appleton and I agree. I love the work our current alder is doing, and I would love to continue her work. Along with this I've been endorsed by a number of sitting alders and if elected I'm looking forward to working with them to continue the steady job they have been doing for years now.

I had a great conversation with Mayor Woodford last week. We talked about roads, crime prevention, and our city's parks. I appreciate the work he has done to lay the foundation to fix streets like Lawe and partner with the federal government for funding. Through the conversation I believe we have a similar vision for the city to help it continue to be the amazing place to live that it is today.

We're down to just 8 days until the election. In spring races every vote truly counts. The last few alder races only around 1000 votes were cast so your vote makes a huge difference in these races.

I was out talking to voters this afternoon in the snow. It was tough but there are only 10 days left until Election Day...

It's getting a lot easier to canvas with the weather warming up. I did have a great conversation yesterday around bike lanes in the city. My family loves biking on Thrivent's trails and frequently gets out to the Mariner's Trail. Cities that invest in trails for bikers can drive tourism for minimum investment. Not only does investing in bike lanes and trails increase revenues it also creates greenspaces and improves the health of people in the area. Just as I'm committed to our parks and recreation department, I'm committed to investing in ideas that improve the health of our community.

Knocking doors yesterday I had a great question about my experience related to politics and figured it would be good to put that out there for everyone who is interested. My first degree was in political science. While getting that degree I did a semester internship in Congress helping conduct studies on deepening sea harbors to improve international trade and clean air legislation.

Outside of work I've been actively engaged in groups like the Fair Maps Coalition which has a goal of ending gerrymandering here in Wisconsin. I've done volunteer work with political groups helping them establish a digital presence.

My second degree is in software engineering systems and I've been using that at various financial institutions for almost 20 years now. Currently, I'm working as a software architect at Thrivent. All of my previous experience I believe sets me up to not only be informed on the issues but bring a different perspective as well.
