🥎 New Girls Softball Coach 💙

We’re excited to welcome Jessica Nutt to Appleton West High School! Jessica will join our Health & Human Performance department and serve as the head coach of our girls softball program this spring.

Jessica comes to West from Williams Baptist University, where she served as head softball coach. During her time there, she compiled a 179-137 career record, earned 2026 American Midwest Conference Coach of the Year, and led her team to the 2026 AMC regular-season championship.

Her teams produced 2 All-Americans, 1 AMC Player of the Year, 1 Co-Pitcher of the Year, 2 Freshmen of the Year, and 37 All-Conference selections, along with 152 Academic All-Conference honors.

Jessica earned her bachelor’s degree in Health & Physical Education from Hannibal-LaGrange University, where she also played softball, and holds a master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Southwest Baptist University.

We’re excited to have Jessica bring her experience, energy, and passion for athletics to West! Welcome, Coach Nutt! 🧡💙

Class of 2030, we are so pumped to meet you! Tonight is our Open House from 5:30-7:30pm which is a great first start.

We also want you to feel comfortable on your first day. Here is a quick run thru of September 1st:

⏰ 7:55 AM — Arrival
Freshmen should arrive by this time and report to their advisory room. Staff will be in the halls to help you find your way!

👋 7:55–8:05 — Welcome to Advisory
Meet your advisory teacher and get settled.

🏫 8:05–8:55 — Tours & Activities
You’ll split into groups for a school tour and fun activities with your advisory.

📚 8:55–10:04 — Practice Your Schedule
Get your schedule and practice finding your classes before returning students arrive.

📣 10:10–10:45 — PEP RALLY
Join us in the gym as we kick off the school year!

🍕 10:45–11:35 — Lunch & Activities
Eat lunch and enjoy activities with your new classmates.

💬 11:50–12:00 — Wrap-Up
Head back to advisory for questions and a final check-in. The afternoon will run a shortened schedule with all West students in the building.

🎉 Our very own Charlie Blevins is nominated to be Athlete of the Week! He scored four touchdowns in our 40-18 victory over Green Bay East last Friday. You can vote here:

Appleton West's Blevins, Winneconne's Duel, Freedom's Eggert, Fox Valley Lutheran's Heiges and Neenah's VanBeek nominated for athlete of the week.

Game Day Reminders:

We love the support of our student-athletes! To help keep home events safe and enjoyable for everyone, please review these important reminders:

👨‍👩‍👧 Elementary Students: Must attend with an adult and remain in the stands with their adult. No adult = no admittance.

🎒 All Students & Spectators: No bags, backpacks, outside food/drinks, skateboards, bikes, pets, drones, footballs, frisbees, or other carry-ins.

📍 Middle School Students: Sit in the designated middle school section unless sitting with a parent/guardian. Stay in the stands and keep walkways clear.

🏟️ High School Students: Please use the designated student section and remain in the stands.

🚫 Everyone: No unruly behavior, throwing objects, artificial noisemakers, unauthorized signs, or activities that involve running/throwing objects. Stairways and designated walkways must remain clear. The top row of the bleachers is off-limits to students.

⏰ Important: No admittance after halftime without prior authorization. Once you leave the gated campus area, re-entry is not permitted.
