Hello comrades,

Due to a persistent lack of interest or engagement from dues-paying members in the Fox Cities, the low attendance of meetings in-person and online, the lack of a response to overtures for collaboration from other organizations, and the resignation last month of one of only three sitting executive officers, the remaining two members of the Executive Committee have decided that we are no longer able to sustain the chapter.

We are currently trying to contact the Pipeline Committee for instructions on how to decharter. All socials and meetings - as well as the proposed May Day cookout - have been canceled. Technically we are supposed to hold a formal vote to decharter, but we have been prevented from doing so by not enough members in attendance.

Once we have succeeded in dechartering, you will be at-large DSA members. Moving forward, I strongly recommend reaching out to and participating in the nearby Green Bay DSA's activities, as they have seen success in organizing. By dechartering, we will leave the door open in the future for someone else to try again, should interest and engagement in the Fox Cities pick up.

I regret that it has come to this, and I hope to see socialism come to the Appleton Area in earnest one day.

The institution of policing in America is fundamentally corrupt, and the brutal murder of Tyre Nichols is a tragic reminder of this reality. While some of the officers involved were swiftly sacrificed, others are still being protected: those who stood back and stood by their peers as they murdered a helpless man, and those who made efforts to cover for them.

The Appleton Area DSA condemns the violence committed by the Memphis PD as well as that of law enforcement offices nationwide. The only solution is a complete systematic and cultural change in our approach to public safety.

The PRO Act would provide the strongest reinforcement of labor rights since the National Labor Relations Act was passed in the 1930s.
