Friday May 29th, we were honored with welcoming home members of the National Guard from deployment. Members of C shift performed a water salute as the aircraft entered the ramp.

The last week members of A shift, B shift and C shift participated in a joint training drill with other local mutual aid departments. Partnership and training opportunities like this are crucial in helping make future incidents successful. Thanks to all the local departments involved for including us.

On Thursday, 5/14, we had the privilege of attending the Fox Valley Technical College paramedic program graduation ceremony. Former part-time Appleton International Airport Fire Department firefighter Dominick Gottino graduated after nine long months filled with classes, studying, practicals, and ride time.

Although Dominick has moved on to a full-time position with the Fond du Lac Fire Rescue, we are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and dedication. We look forward to following his journey and watching him continue to grow throughout his fire and EMS career.

Congratulations, Dominick, and best of luck in this next chapter!

Please join us in welcoming Firefighter Max Malueg to the Appleton International Airport Fire Department family!

Firefighter Malueg has officially joined our department as a career firefighter and has been assigned to A Shift. Over the coming weeks, he will be completing department orientation and training as he transitions into his new role serving the airport and surrounding communities.

We are excited to have Max join our team and look forward to the experience, dedication, and professionalism he brings to the department. Welcome aboard, Max!

This morning, members of A Shift trained on primary search techniques inside an aircraft cabin. These drills focus on rapid victim location, crew coordination, communication, and operating in low-visibility, high-stress environments. Aircraft layouts present unique challenges, and continuous hands-on training helps ensure our crews are prepared to respond quickly and effectively when seconds matter. Great work by everyone involved continuing to sharpen their skills and readiness.

Last week, crew members from all three shifts completed hands-on vehicle extrication training, sharpening the skills needed to respond quickly and safely during serious motor vehicle accidents. Training focused on tool operations, vehicle stabilization, patient access, and coordinated rescue techniques to help ensure crews are prepared for real-world emergencies.

As the warmer summer months approach and traffic volume increases, so does the number of motor vehicle accidents. Our members stand ready 24/7 to respond when our community needs us most.

We would like to thank Fox Cities Towing for the vehicles to complete this valuable training.

Proud to share that members of Appleton Int'l Airport Professional Firefighters Local I-105 recently attended the MDA event at American Family Field, where departments from across the region came together to celebrate last year’s fundraising efforts and kick off the 2026 campaign.

Our local was honored to receive the Rookie Local of the Year award after raising just under $5,000 in 4 days during last year’s Fill the Boot campaign.

This year, we’re setting the bar even higher with a goal of $10,000 to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the families they serve.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, we’re just getting started.
