Celebrating Our Staff & Our Workplace Culture! 🍪✨

89% of Pillars staff participated in a recent survey designed to help us strengthen and expand our workplace culture. The survey gave our team an opportunity to share feedback and help us assess key areas of growth from the past year, including training and development, accountability, respect, communication, and more.

We’re grateful for the time and thoughtful feedback our staff provided—and we’re committed to using what we learned to continue making Pillars a great place to work!

To celebrate, our Illumyx Fairy, aka the “Cookie Fairy,” 🍪🧚‍♀️ stopped by a few of our buildings this past week, and will continue to spread a little sweetness in the weeks ahead at all of our sites to show our appreciation for our amazing staff.

💙 We are incredibly honored to receive a donation from Appleton Downtown Inc!

The funds were raised through community tips during this summer's Heid Music Summer Concert Series and will directly support our work in the Fox Cities, alongside other amazing local nonprofits.

Volunteerism, connection, and community! 💙

We were honored to be invited by Thrivent to participate in their employee volunteer fair! It was a wonderful opportunity to share more about Pillars, our services, and the many ways employees can get involved in supporting our mission.

Thrivent has been an incredible partner to Pillars, including helping coordinate dinner volunteer groups—monthly at our Adult Shelter and quarterly at our Adult & Family Shelter. 🍽️

One of the best parts of the day was hearing from Thrivent employees who have volunteered with us before. As they stopped by our table, they shared stories and memories of their time at our shelters—the joy and connection they experienced with clients and staff, and the friendships they built with fellow volunteers.

We are so grateful for Thrivent’s continued partnership and for the employees who give their time, talents, and hearts to our community. Together, we’re making a difference! 💙

🌮 It was Taco Tuesday last week at Pillars Adult Shelter, with the AWESOME Kimberly-Clark group!! Thank you so much, our staff and clients appreciate you!

We are always looking for groups to sign up to be meal servers at our shelters.

👉 Serve a buffet-style meal a one of our shelters. This includes setting up the kitchen, serving a meal, and cleaning up after. 4:30-7 p.m. daily (Adult & Family Shelter) and 5-7 p.m. daily (Adult Shelter).

Last week, representatives from Menasha Corporation's Purchasing Team spent time at Pillars Adult Shelter, gaining a firsthand look at the journey some of our clients take just to reach shelter from the bus route.

The second half of their trip was some volunteer work! We are incredibly grateful to the Menasha Corporation team for showing up, jumping right in, and helping with projects:

-They put together a new picnic table for our green space.
-Assembled a bread rack for the kitchen.
-And weeded the flower beds!

Your time, energy, and willingness to serve make a meaningful difference for our clients.

👉 Case managers play a vital role in supporting clients across many of Pillars’ housing programs. Through one-on-one support, they help clients navigate challenges, connect with essential resources, and build a path toward stability.

Case managers also assist clients in securing affordable housing and obtaining employment, empowering them to achieve greater independence and long-term housing stability.
