Kindergarten celebrated the end of their Wit & Wisdom Module (Once Upon a Farm) by going to the PAC to watch The Three Billy Goats Gruff and Other Stories, and kicked off the next Module (America Then and Now) with an amazing trip to the History Museum at the Castle. There they got to see real artifacts from home and school in the past, and participated in some hands-on activities. They even got to try cornbread and sarsaparilla! Thank you Horizons Family Network for helping make this fun day possible!

Ms. Hoffman’s 5th Grade had a photography lesson by The Photo Opp, a non-profit organization in Appleton. They learned about “the rule of thirds” as a way to plan their photo, which goes great with their fraction lessons!

Many Flames Make One Bright School!

When your family walks through the doors to join our family at Horizons, you can trust that you all will be in good hands. Horizons is a diverse community of students, families and staff that work tirelessly to meet the needs of the whole child. We offer before school breakfast and early care programming. Our engaging research-based curriculum provides children with the opportunity to be active participants and collaborate with peers in their learning in order to build the skills they need to be successful.

Horizons is rich in diversity which provides our children with many opportunities to connect with one another and the larger community. Horizons supports our diverse learners by providing programs for English Language Learners, Title 1 reading, Reading Recovery, and math intervention. Our highly qualified staff are able to support our children in the classroom through the Achievement Gap Reduction Program (AGR), this allows for smaller class sizes in grades Kindergarten through third.

Our classrooms and school are also equipped with appropriate technology. Every classroom has SmartBoards and document cameras to enhance the learning experience, along with either iPads or Chromebooks for whole class or small group work.

Parents are very important at Horizons. We believe that in order to meet the needs of the whole child it is important we work together as a team. Please watch this webpage for more information on how you can be involved at Horizons. We look forward to our work together!
