STATE OF EMERGENCY

Today, Mayor Hanna proclaimed a State of Emergency in Appleton in a proactive step to prepare for the expected arrival of COVID-19.

The directive allows us to request assistance from Outagamie County and the State of Wisconsin. It does not change anything for businesses or organizations here in the city.

We have also opened our Emergency Operations Center to streamline our staff response and to ensure consistent and frequent updates to the community.

We continue to monitor the situation as it evolves around the state and are prepared to respond. We have a number of different contingency plans in place and are prepared to the changing situation.

In the meantime, we encourage all residents to follow the Wisconsin Department of Health Services guidelines and the CDC recommendations. The latest of which is for no gatherings of larger than 50 people.

Exciting news! By the end of Friday, November 15, WIS 441/US 10 (between County CB and Oneida Street) will open to 3 lanes in each direction and speed limit increased to 65 mph!

Check out before/after photos of curve near Midway Road. The redesigned curves through Appleton Rd and Midway Rd Interchange allow for traffic to safely travel at 65 mph.

**Please note: we do have one overhead sign to hang in December so expect one night of full closures to place sign.
