Almost 25 years later, I had the opportunity to hear the stories of 9/11 firsthand.

I spent the last few days in New York City with 72 veterans from across Wisconsin—different branches, different backgrounds, different experiences. We came together to learn, connect, reflect, and heal.

I’ve always been proud of my service. But this trip helped me root that service in an even deeper sense of purpose.

We heard from the people who were there on September 11th, the police officers, firefighters, survivors, and those who ran toward something the rest of the world was watching unfold. We stood where it happened. We remembered those who never came home. And we were reminded of what followed, and why so many of us raised our right hands and served in the years that came after.

In a world where so many people question our country, our institutions, and even military service itself, I’ll never pretend we’re perfect. We’re not.

But there’s no place I’d rather call home. No place I’d rather serve. And no greater cause I’d rather be a small part of.

I’m incredibly thankful to Missions of Honor and everyone who made Freedom to Liberty possible. This experience gave me perspective I’ll carry for a long time.

Now I’m excited to keep sharing these stories and do my small part to help the next generation understand what it means to serve, why it matters, and why we remember.

Not sure why I look like a Marine recruiter…

…but here we are. 🫡

More importantly:

Y’ALL WANT A CREWNECK OR WHAT?

It’s sweater weather 🍂

Dime out your buddy who’s been talking about joining the Wisconsin Army National Guard.

They meet with me → you get the drip.

Snitches get sweaters 👀

There’s nothing better than watching someone make the sacrifice, put in the work, and then reap the benefits 🤙🏼

Cade trusted me and trusted the process. He made a decision that required him take a year off of college, leave home, step outside his comfort zone, and spend 8 months at training.

Now he’s back, and he’s the perfect example of what’s possible.

Qualified 25U. College credits earned. $20K bonus. Paid cash for his car. 💰 still in the bank. Back in school and bringing in around $1150/month while earning his degree.

But none of that was just handed to him. He made the decision. He did the work. Now he gets to enjoy what he earned.

Proud of you buddy! This is what it’s all about 🇺🇸

Can’t wait to see you continue to succeed!

Summer was fun. Time to lock back in.

Get your head right. Get uncomfortable. Get stronger.

Starting September 1st, I’m kicking off some challenges designed to push us physically and mentally.

No complicated bu****it. Just show up, do the work, and see what you’re capable of.

More to follow. 👀

New team, same mission. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Build relationships. Help people achieve their goals. Have some fun doing it.

Awesome getting the whole crew out today to support West De Pere Wrestling at their bags tournament.

Pretty cool when work, community, family, and a little competition all come together.

Please help me welcome PVT Peyton Maurice with the Wisconsin Army National Guard 🇺🇸

A 97 on the ASVAB means you can pick any job we offer.

He chose 17E – Electronic Warfare Specialist, one of the Army’s most high-tech career fields.

While a lot of high school seniors are still trying to figure out what they want to study or how they’ll pay for college, Peyton already has a plan to earn his degree, take advantage of $150k+ in education benefits, and set himself up to graduate debt free 👨🏻‍🎓

What impressed me most wasn’t his score.

It was the preparation.

Peyton walked into my office knowing exactly what he wanted. He had done the research, asked the right questions, built a plan, and executed it.

Life looks different when you make smart decisions early. Most people eventually figure things out, but the people who start sooner create opportunities that others spend years trying to catch up to.

I’m just glad I got to help him take that first step.

Welcome to the team PVT Maurice. Excited to see what you accomplish 🤙🏼

Humbled to be promoted to Sergeant First Class today in the Wisconsin Army National Guard.

Thankful for the leaders who invested in me, the Soldiers I’ve had the privilege to serve alongside, and my family who made every step possible.

The work continues 🤙🏼

Summer looks a little different in the Wisconsin Army National Guard

Over the past few weeks, Soldiers from across Wisconsin wrapped up their Annual Training (AT) at Ft. McCoy. AT is where everything they’ve worked on throughout the year comes together—whether that’s qualifying on weapons, operating military equipment, flying in helicopters, leading teams, or training alongside fellow Soldiers.

For a lot of people, this is exactly why they joined. The challenge. The experiences. The stories. The chance to do something most people never will 🤙🏼

📸 Drop your coolest AT photo in the comments and tell us where it was taken. Let’s see what everyone got into this summer.
