On Tuesday, December 12th, the Library hosted its monthly “Library For All” program. This interactive program features crafts and snacks for those patrons who need a gentle and quiet place to gather for socialization. This month we did winter and Christmas-inspired crafts. Our next “Library For All” will be on Tuesday, January 9th, starting at 11:00am.

January 2nd, Tuesday – STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) Program at the Jamerson Library starting at 4:30pm. All are welcome with the understanding that this program is for elementary and middle school-aged students.

Wednesday – Preschool Story & Craft Time at the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library starting at 11:00am and 12:00pm noon. The Library will feature an age-appropriate book followed by a simple craft project and snacks. Everyone is welcome to attend with the understanding that this program is for preschool patrons.

Last Friday, we started the weekend off by taking gifts to the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library to contribute to the CVACL Elves for Elders. Marleigh enjoyed a play date with her friend Tatyum and we stopped to get some yummy ice cream.

Throughout the year the Library supports several organizations through community outreach and the winter holiday season is our busiest time of all. On Monday, December 11th, Vicky Craig from the Central Virginia Alliance for Community Living (CVACL) stopped by the Library to pick up the packages for the “Elves for the Elders” program. We would like to thank everyone who participated in helping to make a local senior citizen’s Holiday filled with gifts and kindness by knowing that someone cared. CVACL will ensure your gifts will be delivered by Christmas and you can know that you have done your part to bring joy to a senior.

You can help out local families by bringing in a new or gently used item for those that are up to 18 years of age for the “Community Christmas Tree” outreach program. These gifts will help those in need, through St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, as they work with others to help spread holiday cheer throughout Appomattox. The deadline for donations for the Community Christmas Tree is Wednesday, December 20th, by 8:00pm.

December 19th, Tuesday – Amazement Square presents STEAM Library Makers at the Jamerson Library starting at 1:00pm for preschool patrons 3–5 years of age. Parents come bring your preschool kids to the Library for some fun and educational adventures in science, technology, engineering, art, and math!

On Wednesday, December 6th, the Library hosted their weekly Preschool Story & Craft Time. The Library Fairy, aka the Christmas elf read the book “How to Catch a Reindeer” by Alice Walstead and Andy Elkerton. The kids got to choose from an assortment of Christmas tree ornament crafts that reflected the story, followed by juice and snacks. The next Story & Craft Time will be on Wednesday, December 13th, hosted by the Robert E Lee Soil and Water Conservation District, featuring a holiday-themed book and craft.

For every 100 activities your preschool child does, they can earn a free book at the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library! To sign your child up or find out more information stop by the circulation desk.
