We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Appomattox students at the 54th Annual Central Virginia Regional Science Fair! Congratulations to Thomas Bakker, who earned 1st place in Materials Science category, was nominated to represent our region at the Virginia State Science Fair, and also received both the Naval Research Award and the Yale Junior Engineering Award. Congratulations as well to Gibson Yoder for receiving the U.S. Metric Association Award. We are incredibly proud of these students for representing Appomattox County High School with excellence, hard work, and innovation. Their success is a reflection of the talent and dedication we are so fortunate to have at ACHS. Every Raider, Every Day!

ACHS CTE will be hosting Raider's Care Saturday this Saturday, March 21 and on April 25. During these Saturdays we have a variety of things happening. These things are FREE or very low cost.

-Raider Garage is available for vehicle maintenance - FREE see QR Code
-FCCLA Clothes Closet is available with a range of sizes to choose from - FREE
-Teachers for Tomorrow students host a Story time and Activity at 10:00 - FREE
-28 Meal in a Bag Kits will be available - FREE
-Football Clinic with ACHS football coach and players - see QR Code
-Raider Cafe serving coffee and sweet treats - FREE
-Raider HVAC will be servicing window units and helping with your HVAC questions - FREE

Appomattox High School is excited to host ECMC College Night on March 19th from 5:30–6:30 PM. Join us to learn more about college planning, financial aid, and postsecondary options. ECMC has also offered a chance for one lucky student to earn a $1000 scholarship for attending this event. Good morning! Appomattox County High School is happy to announce our Raiders' Care Saturday initiative is returning this Saturday, November 15th from 8:30am to 11:00am. This is a monthly service project designed to highlight some of our wonderful CTE programs and give back to our community that means so much to us.

Our instructors and some of their students will be providing services or activities to community member. This allows our students to take what they have learned and put it into practice for the benefit our community. Please see the flier below for the programs offering services this Saturday.

* A special addition to this month's activities is Cassidy's Roaring Heart's food drive. This food drive is done yearly in remembrance of Cassidy, who's love of Thanksgiving was well known. The goal of this food drive is to collect holiday foods for local families to ensure that no one goes without during this special time of year. Please consider coming to donate food goods this Saturday that will be taken to local food banks to support our community.

We are proud to recognize the Appomattox Senior FFA Chapter and their sponsors for an outstanding week at the 98th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana!

Highlights from the week include:
⭐ Veterinary Science CDE Team – 5th place in the nation with four gold-rated individuals
⭐ National Agricultural Education Proficiency Award Finalist
⭐ Three-Star National Chapter Award – one of the highest honors an FFA chapter can receive
⭐ Three individuals earned their American FFA Degree

Members also explored urban agricultural facilities, heard from motivational speakers, and attended the Career and Education Expo to connect with prospective employers and colleges.

Congratulations to our students and advisors for proudly representing Appomattox County and the Commonwealth of Virginia on the national stage! 💙💛

Our very own Cassie Long was nominated for WSLS 10's Education Impact Award and was selected the winner for this month. Cassie was nominated for her incredible contributions to both our school and the positive impact she has daily on our students. The WSLS crew and our administrative team were able to surprise Cassie and some of her students with this announcement on Thursday. As part of being named the winner of this award, Cassie received a check for $250 and ACHS also received a check for $250. Cassie was interviewed and did an amazing job shining a light on our wonderful school and her program. For those interested in watching the story they run on Cassie, they have told me they plan to run it early next week.

Welcome Back Letter – 2025-2026 School Year

Dear Students and Families,

We hope this letter finds you well and that you’ve had a restful and enjoyable summer. As we gear up for the 2025–2026 school year, the entire team at Appomattox County High School is excited to welcome back our returning students and greet our new Raiders joining us for the first time. The start of a new school year is always a time of great energy, new opportunities, and the promise of growth, and we are eager to begin this journey with you.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our Open House/Registration Day on Tuesday, August 5th, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to walk the building, pick up schedules, pay fees, and reconnect with teachers and staff. It's also a perfect time to make sure you’re ready for the first day of school and to get any questions answered before the year officially begins.

In addition to our regular Open House activities, we are pleased to offer a special opportunity for our incoming 9th grade students and their parents/guardians. While not required, we encourage families of 9th graders to attend one of our optional transition meetings held throughout the day. These sessions are designed to help students and families better understand the expectations of high school, learn more about academic and extracurricular opportunities, and hear helpful tips to support a smooth and successful transition.

Each meeting will cover the same information, so please attend the time that works best for your schedule. The 9th grade informational meetings will be held in the ACHS auditorium at:
