We typically don't remove comments or ban individuals. Such action rarely occurs and requires staff to elevate the action to the Chief for approval. Comment numbers reflected in a post represent deleted, hidden, and public comments. If a comment does not appear, it was removed by the writer, Facebook, or department staff. Most comments are autohidden by the Facebook rules in place. These rules are intended to protect other users from malicious links and spam. Though we can see what Facebook auto-hides, we do not review each post individually. We simply don't have time for that. We do not see posts deleted/removed by the writer or Facebook. Due to the recent influx of vile posts, responses, and comments, we rarely check in to review our Page's Facebook activity and respond to private messages. We use it to share information with our community that we feel is or might be important to them. Many of those bombarding our posts through response spamming and saturation are not from the community and remain intent on harassing public safety staff while also stifling free and open dialogue by community stakeholders and members with their public services. If you need to contact us, please utilize communication portals on our website, https://police.aptx.gov, or call 361-758-5224. FACEBOOK TERMS & STANDARDS:

As summer approaches, we want to share a friendly reminder to help keep your vehicles and belongings safe. We often see a slight increase in thefts from vehicles in the summer months, and many of these incidents involve unlocked doors.

Taking a moment to practice these simple habits can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim of a crime of opportunity:

- Lock Your Doors
- Remove or Hide Valuables
- Park in a Well Lit Area (when possible)
- Report Suspicious Activity

Let’s work together to make this a safe community!

Hurricane season starts June 1st, just around the corner, so now is the time to prep.

Yesterday, the Aransas Pass Police Department Marine/Dive Team was out at the sea gates, conducting an inspection and cleaning them in case they have to be installed this hurricane season.

Did you know that the City of Aransas Pass has 5 “gates” that complete the berm, helping protect the city from storm surge? The City manages 4 of those, and TxDOT manages the 5th, which goes across East Hwy 361.

Special thanks to Constable Kody Fahrenthold and Deputy Constable Mark Lemmons for their assistance with this yearly inspection.

And last but not least…. Facebook Fam, say “hello” to Telecommunicator/Dispatcher Kayla Bigham.

Kayla is our newest dispatcher and joined our crew about two months ago. She has such a positive attitude and is an extremely quick learner. She will be manning the console on her own in no time.

Kayla spends her time off with her husband and her preschooler. Fun fact: Kayla is a “Jill of all trades,” and previously worked an ambulance and is also a real estate agent.

Please both welcome and wish Kayla a Happy National Telecommunicators Week!
