Have you ever wondered what it would be like to camp overnight at Brownville Park & Campground in DeSoto County? Recent park guest Rick Davies (aka "PPG Gorilla" on Youtube) provided us this footage showing a first hand account of his experience at our campground. The access to nature and the Peace River is a highlight of a weekend at Brownville Park. Make your reservation for your next outdoor experience today!

Lightning is a serious danger in Southwest Florida, where thunderstorms can develop quickly and frequently produce dangerous lightning—even when heavy rain has not yet arrived. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to the storm to be struck by lightning. At the first sound of thunder, leave parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, pools, waterways, and other outdoor areas and seek shelter inside a substantial building or enclosed vehicle. Don’t wait for the storm to get closer. When thunder roars, go indoors—and stay there until at least 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder.
The Walt Brewer Sports Complex operates with a Lightning Detection System supported b Earth Networks. When lightning is detected in the area, the alarm sounds, and the park closes for all activity and park guests must leave the park or shelter in their vehicles. The "all clear" signal is given 30 minutes after the last lightning incident. Parks users can monitor the "Countdown Clock" for the lightning alerts from the homepage of our website located at https://DesotoParks.com . Enjoy our parks but When Thunder Roars.....Go Indoors!
