***POST EXPIRED*** A strong to severe storm threat is increasing across NE Iowa and SE Minnesota this morning. Large hail and some damaging winds will be possible with the strongest storms.

04/13/2026

There is an enhanced (Threat Level 3 out of 5) risk for severe storms this afternoon and into the late evening for areas along and north of Interstate 90. Storms will likely develop north of an Owatonna to Winona, MN line and move to the east/northeast, quickly becoming severe. Large hail and heavy rain will be the primary threat with these storms, however damaging wind gusts and a tornado or two are also possible. Be sure to stay weather aware and take shelter as storms approach!

🚒 Thank You, Chief Jake Ruesgen 🚒

The Trempealeau Fire Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks to Jake Ruesgen as he steps away from his role as Fire Chief.

Jake has been a dedicated member of the Trempealeau Fire Department since 2012, serving our community for more than 15 years. Over that time, he worked his way through the ranks, serving as a Captain, Assistant Chief, and most recently as Fire Chief, a position he held for several years. His leadership, experience, and steady presence have helped guide the department through countless calls, trainings, and changes, always with the best interest of the department and community in mind.

Jake shared, “It’s been an honor to serve our community as the fire chief, and I look forward to continuing to serve as a firefighter for many years to come.”

We are grateful for Jake’s years of leadership and service, and we’re proud that he will continue to serve alongside us as a firefighter. Thank you, Chief Ruesgen, for everything you’ve done and will continue to do for this department and the Trempealeau community.
