The Arcanum Police Department has found a canine within the village. The dog appears to be a German Shepherd (black and tan) and was located this evening.

The canine is currently safe and being cared for.

Officers have located a dog in town and are attempting to identify the owner. The dog appears to be a medium-to-large mixed breed with a brindle coat, white chest, and light-colored eyes.

🚓 Street Parking & Snow Removal Notice – Arcanum Police Department 🚓

The Arcanum Police Department is asking for residents’ cooperation as snow removal efforts continue throughout the Village.

If you have a vehicle parked on the street with snow piled up around it, please voluntarily move the vehicle as soon as possible. Vehicles left in place prevent crews from fully clearing snow and widening travel lanes.

🚗 Why this matters:
Vehicles that remain parked in the same location for extended periods—especially during snow events—slow snow removal and create narrowed and unsafe roadways.

📅 Important notice:
Beginning Monday, February 9, the Arcanum Police Department will begin making contact with residents regarding vehicles that remain parked on the street in snow piles so snow removal can be completed.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation as we work to keep streets safe and accessible for residents, emergency vehicles, and snow removal crews.

Weather Outlook & Community Warming Plan

We’re keeping a close eye on the possible winter weather expected this weekend. Conditions could bring heavy snow, bitter cold, and the potential for power outages. Now is the time to prepare.

In the event our community experiences an extended power outage, the Arcanum Police Department has partnered with Arcanum-Butler Local Schools to provide a warming station for residents who need a safe place to go.

If the warming station is opened:
• Residents will receive a CodeRED community alert
• You will need to bring your own food, medications, and blankets
• This space is intended for temporary warmth and safety

Please use the next day or two to:
• Charge devices
• Check flashlights and batteries
• Stock essential medications
• Make a plan for family and pets
