Today, we had the honor of attending a ribbon cutting ceremony for opening of the new interchange at Indianola Cutoff. The interchange was dedicated to and named after Brad Mettam. As of today, the Brad Mettam Memorial Interchange will be open to all directions of travel. We had guest speakers from many local, county, and state stakeholders, including our own Captain Griffith. We would like to thank everyone who played a role in the creation and fulfilment of this project. We request drivers pay extra attention to their speed, the newly posted roadway signs, and the changes to traffic patterns for the new interchange.

Pass the word, Start Smart is happening in Arcata!
In an effort to prepare young drivers to drive responsibly, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is offering new driver education classes for new drivers and their parents. Start Smart, presented by the CHP, addresses such topics as the safe driving practices, the rules of the road, and new driver license requirements. Contact your nearest CHP Area office to confirm your registration to this FREE class.
Humboldt CHP will be hosting a Start Smart Class on June 8, 2026. Please contact the CHP Humboldt Area office at (707)713-6300 for registration. IT'S FREE!!
