9/11 Memorial Stair Climb – We Will Never Forget
Today, Officer Rogers and Officer Smith represented the Arcata Police Department at the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at the Humboldt Bay Fire Training Center.
Together, they completed 88 trips up and down the five-story training tower, totaling 220 flights of stairs, in honor of the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.
The climb traditionally represents 110 flights, matching the number of floors in the World Trade Center towers. Officer Rogers and Officer Smith completed that climb twice.
As Officer Rogers put it:
“We did it twice… once for us, and once for the people who couldn’t make it. 🇺🇸”
Each trip was a reminder of the courage and selflessness shown by the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and other first responders who ran toward danger that morning to help others.
Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember their sacrifice, honor their service, and carry forward their legacy.
We are incredibly proud of Officer Rogers and Officer Smith for taking on this challenge and representing APD in remembrance of those who gave their lives in service to others.
