WEST NILE VIRUS DETECTED IN LACKAWANNA COUNTY
The presence of West Nile virus has been detected in Lackawanna County. Two positive mosquito samples were collected on August 24th at the following locations: North Garfield Avenue at Bulwer Street, Scranton, and the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail, Laurel Street trailhead, Archbald. No human cases have been reported in Lackawanna County at this time.
Officials from Lackawanna County and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection are monitoring the situation. Residents in the area are advised to take precautions when outdoors and to eliminate standing water on their property.
