🚓🚒🚲 Safety City 2026 was a huge success! 🚦🚂🐶
A special THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this year's Safety City an unforgettable experience for our children. We had an incredible week filled with hands-on learning, special guests, and plenty of fun while teaching important safety lessons.
Here's a look back at what our Safety City graduates learned:
🔹 Monday: Children learned about police officers and explored a police cruiser inside and out! Rachel Kinsman taught poison safety, and Kris Bryant from FCJFS discussed body safety and the importance of understanding safe and unsafe touches.
🔹 Tuesday: Stephanie Moore from the Humane Society shared how to stay safe around dogs and explained the work of their organization. ODNR Officers Adam Stachler and Bailey Cole taught wild animal safety along with water and boating safety.
🔹 Wednesday: Matt Hines from Ohio Gas introduced children to gas safety and the importance of recognizing the smell of natural gas. The Archbold Fire Department demonstrated fire and EMS safety, giving children the opportunity to escape the smoke trailer and even spray a real fire hose!
🔹 Thursday: Archbold Police Officers discussed gun safety, and Eddie Eagle made a surprise appearance! Angela Castillo from the University of Toledo taught bike safety, while linemen from Bryan Municipal Utilities explained electrical safety and showcased their bucket truck.
🔹 Friday: Alan Stouder from Operation Lifesaver provided valuable railroad safety information. Joann Cousino from Archbold Area Schools reviewed bus safety, and children enjoyed a ride on a school bus. The week concluded with a graduation ceremony where each child received a certificate of completion, along with special treats from Dairy Queen and visits from the Hamburglar, Grimace, and Birdie from Rivello's McDonald's!
We are so grateful to all of the parents and guardians who shared their children with us this week. Thank you to our presenters, volunteers, community partners, and sponsors who made Safety City 2026 possible. Your dedication helps equip our youngest community members with the knowledge and confidence to stay safe every day.
🎓 Congratulations to our Safety City 2026 graduates! We hope you had as much fun learning as we had teaching! ❤️💙
