The City of Archer City is accepting applications for a full-time police officer position involving routine police assignments, which include patrol, crash investigation, preliminary investigation, and traffic enforcement. The position can involve an element of personal danger. TCOLE certification required and previous experience preferred but not mandated. Our City crew is working on a water leak near the area of Blackjack and North Center. Residents who work or live in that area may be without water while they are fixing the leak.

Our Monthly siren test will be performed today. The sirens will run approximately 3 mins at 12:00 pm.

REMINDER:

The City of Archer City will perform a Water Quality Maintenance Flush Beginning August 1, 2026

To prevent any ongoing odors with the Drinking Water that are common this time of year, the City of Archer City will be performing a city-wide maintenance flush. This consists of using free chlorine residual (chlorine) instead of our normal process consisting of total chloramines (chlorine and ammonia). Both are acceptable methods of treatment that disinfect the water and are completely safe.

This change in the treatment process helps flush out unwanted nuisances in the distribution lines that will improve the overall quality of the drinking water and will help improve the taste and odor. You may or may not experience a chlorine odor that you are not used to but do not worry, this is normal.

During this process the water will be completely safe to drink. This will take place through the month of August, and we will resume normal operations beginning September 1st.

The phone system at City Hall is currently not working. We were notified by Brazos Telecommunications that they are working to get it fixed as soon as possible.
