Yesterday we wrapped up the Emergency Medical Responder class with a day of skills testing. Thirteen volunteer firefighters completed nearly 80 hours of instruction and hands on training in the last two months. This class and the current Firefighter 1 course taking place are the biggest advancements in training and preparation for FDLC in over a decade. We want to recognize the departments that sent their members to the class:
Criner Hills Volunteer Fire Dept.
Enville Volunteer Fire Department
Falconhead/ Red River Volunteer Fire Department
Jimtown Volunteer Fire Department
Thackerville Volunteer Fire Department
And from Carter County:
Dickson Fire Department, Dickson Oklahoma

April 19, 1995. A day Oklahoma will never forget. Our hearts are heavy for the devastation that occurred, the lives lost, and those who were forever changed. Words could never adequately express the gratitude we feel towards those who ran toward the danger that day without hesitation—who ran toward the unimaginable to help others in their darkest moment.

We remember. We honor. We carry them with us.

The Carter County Emergency Management will declare War Days starting at 10:00am, signaling high fire danger conditions across the county.

🚨 What This Means
• Conditions are extremely favorable for fire spread.
• 3 fire departments will automatically be toned out for every fire call.
• Many firefighters are at their regular daytime jobs, so available resources may be limited.

🔥 How You Can Help
• Do NOT burn brush, trash, or debris.
• Avoid activities that create sparks (welding, grinding, outdoor machinery used in dry grass).
• Secure trailer chains and avoid parking on dry grass.
• Properly discard ci******es — never toss them outside!

The State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be activating 10 a.m. Friday for Critical fire weather and high winds across the state. The State EOC will be available to support resource requests from cities, counties, and other agencies.

Oklahoma Forestry Services will have THREE Fire Suppression Groups in place Friday through Sunday - one in Guthrie, one in Weatherford, and one in Shawnee.

A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.
