Friends and neighbors in the Sixth Ward:

In May, I won the Democratic nomination to run for Township Commissioner, and now this November, seek re-election to the Board. I graciously and proudly accepted the Party's nomination, and I humbly seek your vote.

It has been my privilege to serve all of you for four terms, and the only greater privilege would be to serve another term. I have updated my website, http://larryholmesforhaverford.com/index.html, and have created campaign literature for your review and to remind you of some of the gains we've made as a Township, problems we've solved, services we've improved, and projects we've completed, and my role in those accomplishments.

I hope that my record, my judgment, and my enthusiasm for this position support my candidacy and can earn your support and your vote on November 2.

Election day is November 2, 22 days from now, and there is still time to register, https://www.vote.pa.gov/Register-to-Vote/Pages/default.aspx, if you have not yet registered, and not too late to request a mail-in ballot, https://www.vote.pa.gov/Voting-in-PA/Pages/Mail-and-Absentee-Ballot.aspx if you prefer to vote that way. In-person voting will take place at the same locations: Precincts 2, 3, and 4 will all vote in-person at the Chestnutwold Elementary School on Lorraine, and the 1st Precinct will vote at the Park at Normandie, on Normandie Road, between Cricket and Aubrey.

See you on the 2nd!

Larry Holmes for Haverford Township 6th Ward Commissioner - Larry Holmes is the Democratic candidate for Commissioner in Haverford Township's Sixth Ward

Friends and neighbors in the Sixth Ward: While it appears that we came out of this storm with less major flooding issues than we anticipated, and have previously experienced, nonetheless, it was a major event and was not without consequences to many of you. Let me first thank the residents who moved their cars in advance of the storm from frequently flooded areas and who helped clear storm drains both prior and DURING the storm. Those efforts make a difference, and make dealing with emergency situations more efficient and effective. Special thanks to the Township Public Works and Public Safety employees who worked in the days before and during the storm as well to keep inlets clear and avert disaster.

It is very helpful for the Township to gather data during and after a storm like this in real time to investigate what steps the Township, the residents, or others can do to avoid these situations or at least reduce their severity. There are areas where the results of a storm like this are predictable, but there are plenty of instances where unusual results happen. If you have pictures or videos or just narratives of what you experienced in your neighborhood or your home, post them here or send them to my email [email protected]. Let us know if what you saw was something you’ve seen before, or completely unexpected. As the eyes and ears of our Ward, your experience may help the Township uncover a problem that can be fixed simply, like a blocked inlet or storm drain, or it may confirm the existence of a more systemic problem, requiring a more significant remedy. Either way, your input is invaluable. The Township is currently working with engineers who specialize in stormwater management, and this information will help them as well.

Stay safe and have a happy and healthy rest of your summer.
