The UTV was out actually into Schuylkill County to assist with a search for a possible MVA. At least 2 individuals were injured after a Jeep rolled over at least on the Windmill Rd between Windmill D16 and D17. The occupants of the Jeep were in some fashion placed into another vehicle and removed from the scene. This vehicle then drove to Atlas where the occupants made contact with a Mt Carmel Boro officer. The officer summoned EMS and along with Mt Carmel Twp police provided care until EMS arrived. At this time the parties involved told PD they crashed near the windmills in Aristes but could not provide information if any other occupants were in the Jeep. Northumberland county 911 contacted PSP Bloomsburg and ECEN911. PSP Bloomsburg also then contacted ECEN911 to request fire department assistance to find the crash and ensure no other injuries existed. The UTV responded along with manpower from Sta340. The accident was found and PSP was advised. Troopers, Mt Carmel PD and Mt Carmel
Twp PD on their UTV arrived at the location and took over the scene and handled the investigation. The vehicle was removed and all units returned. The accident was approximately 600’ into “da Skook” but with no need for another resources the incident was held to those on the scene.

PSA: To All Drivers on Rt42 in the Brush Valley/Weiser Staye Forest area. PennDOT did paving work on the roadway today from Poor House Rd going North into Locust Twp near the upper entrance to Mystic Mountain. They only paved the southbound lane today making for an uneven lane situation between the two directions of travel. There also are no continuous lines on the road to indicate passing, no passing areas that may have existed prior. Use caution in this area over the weekend if you’re driving through especially if you try to transition lanes in what had been passing areas or for any other reason get near this transition. Also the berm has an uneven situation as well while PennDOT continues this roadway improvement project.

This morning at 08:39 the station was dispatched to the intersection of Center St and Locust Ave in Centralia for a MVA with injury. RE352 responded. Upon arrival found a 2 vehicle MVA w/ all occupants self-extricated. M93 and A3801 arrived shortly after 352. EMS obtained refusals from the occupants and the box was then held to 352 which remained on scene until PSP completed their investigation and the vehicles were removed by the towing services. Capt 352 then placed the box in service and 352 returned available.

Tonight at 2045hrs, ECEN911 dispatched the box for an MVA with entrapment at the intersection of Aristes Hwy and Wilburton Rd in the first due. RE352 responded first and arrived to find 2 vehicles with what appeared to be a head-on crash with 1 vehicle in the roadway and the other off the northbound berm. 352 confirmed 1 occupant entrapped with lower extremity injuries and 3 other pts involved who were self-extricated. Stabilization was initiated. E331 arrived and provided manpower along with initial traffic control. T353 arrived bringing additional extrication equipment to the scene and their crew going to work with the 352 and 331. With extrication underway and initial care provided to the entrapped occupant, A3802 arrived and began assessing and triaging the other injured. Aero-medical was requested to the Aristes Baseball Field w/ E341 being requested for the LZ. R5 arrived and was put to work assisting with the extrication effort. Using Hurst Jaws of Life hydraulic tools including spreaders, cutters and ram crews worked for just under 20 minutes to free the entrapped patient. The occupant was extricated and handed off to M6401, and was then transported to the LZ where care was transferred to Medevac 7 for transport to the trauma center. The remaining pts were transported by ground to local ERs with A3801 transporting 1 and A3802 transporting 2. Units remained on the scene with SR42 closed in both directions during the incident. PSP completed the investigation and the vehicles were removed. The Box was placed in service by Aristes Command.

This evening the QRS responded for another incident in the first due with M93.

Today at 11:23am the QRS was dispatched to an incident in the first due. Squad 351 responded. Upon arrival the incident was found to be more serious then dispatched. The patient was found to be in cardiac arrest. Resuscitation efforts were initiated including placing the patient on an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). 1 electrical shock was delivered with CPR as MICU93 arrived. The station was dispatched on the medical assist with additional manpower responding. The efforts of the QRS, manpower and MICU93 resulted in the patient regaining pulses in the field. QRS members rode along with MICU93 to the hospital to provide assistance.

A small town fire company pushing to make pre-hospital medical care available quicker and making big efforts to improve outcomes is what we are hoping for and trying to do everyday. This is not the first cardiac arrest response for the QRS since its inception in 2014, we have had several but not all have resulted in a patient being given a 2nd chance and them improving with that chance. A lot of stars had to fall in place including recognition of the need for EMS, calling 911, manpower, funding to allow the QRS to function, first due advanced life support (ALS) being available and more. This does not mean the patient is out of the woods at all, because they will have a lot to endure yet, but they are here to endure those things.
