Area teachers, don't miss out on this great PD opportunity from the Arkansas Humanities Council!
Join Ann Clements, AHC Education Director and other visiting scholars for AHC’s summer PD workshops. One hour workshops will explore humanities classroom resources, grant opportunities for professional development, classroom projects and field trips, new AHC programs and resources developed for teachers, and the Smithsonian traveling "Americans" exhibit coming in 2025. In addition, the 3-hour workshops will include a deep dive into "DocsTeach" and resources for using and teaching with primary sources in the classroom; along with artifact and document analysis using items from Ouachita Archives and Special Collections. Zoom workshops (2 hours credit) will feature Docs Teach as primary topic for one workshop; another virtual workshop will focus on AHC classroom resources and available educational grants.
Presentation content relates to Social Studies (Arkansas History, U.S. History, World History, Civics, Government, Economics), English Language Arts, and Fine Arts. The workshops are designed for K -12 teachers and librarians/media specialists. Participants will earn either 1, 2, or 3 hours of PD credit, depending on chosen workshop. AHC will provide giveaways including books and other resource materials. Refreshments will be provided at most workshops.
