Today, seven members of the Big Flats Fire Department assisted FIRECATT with our annual testing of nearly 12,000 feet of fire hose and seven ground ladders.
In the past, this was one area where our department was deficient in meeting Wisconsin State Statute SPS 330 and NFPA 1962 standards. By utilizing FIRECATT, we are able to test all of our fire hose and ladders in a single day while ensuring compliance with state laws and NFPA standards. Their services provide accurate records of annual testing and maintenance, maintain inventory documentation, and allow us to return our equipment and apparatus to service as quickly as possible.
We would like to thank the Town of Monroe for allowing us to utilize their parking lot for testing and for the use of the Town Hall throughout the day. We would also like to thank the Bighorn Store for generously donating cold water and Gatorade for our members this afternoon.
A huge shoutout goes to the members who dedicated their day to this important task:
AC/EMR Nick Kipfer
LT/EMR Dalton Kipfer
FF Scott Shipps
FF/EMR Alisha Prasalowicz
EMR Susan Souder
EMR Mike Murdaugh
Chief/EMR Kim Schmidt
Their commitment to the readiness and success of our department is unwavering. While some members even took time off work to help, we all left with a sense of accomplishment, sore muscles, sunburns, and dirty shirts—but knowing that our equipment is tested, documented, and ready to serve our community when called upon.
Thank you to everyone who helped make today a success.
