All drivers with Connections to Care are volunteer drivers; they offer their time and resources to pick up a passenger, take them to their appointment, wait with them during their appointment, then drive them back to their residence. We cover a 160 square mile area within the Northwest Suburbs outside of Chicago, which includes 5 major medical centers. Additionally, if one of our passengers has an appt outside of our territory, such as a VA appointment, we will work with this passenger to find a driver to ensure they make it to their appointment. We operate on donations from the community, organizations and our passengers. We ask for a suggested donation of $15 for a round-trip ride within territory and $30 for a round-trip ride outside of territory. Our administration team consists of a volunteer board, a director, an operations manager and office volunteers, in addition to our volunteer drivers.
