Today was a long day for our team. We responded to a fuel truck rollover incident. Upon arrival, we found the tank leaking and discharging into the culvert. We managed to contain the spill by damming it, preventing further pollution of the brook and Battenkill. Manchester Fire was asked to provide supplemental hazmat resources while we waited for the State Hazmat Team to arrive. We recovered about 100 gallons of fuel that had spilled. The State Hazmat Team successfully transferred the remaining 2300 gallons into another fuel truck before extracting the vehicle from the ditch. Great work by all involved. We are grateful to Shaftsbury Fire for standing by while we were occupied for most of the day.

As we begin the new year the chiefs would like to thank the officers and firefighters for all the hard work and training they have done. 2025 was a challenging year but we worked together and got through it as a team.

Last night at 20:00 hrs we where dispatched to a TT unit stuck in a ditch on East Arlington road. When we arrived we found diesel leaking from the passenger side fuel tank. We worked to contain the fuel until the Vermont state Hazmat showed up to help remove the hazard. Arlington fire was assisted by Vermont state police, Vermont State Hazmat, The Town of Arlington, and KJ Sterns towing. All Arlington fire units where back in service at 00:33hrs

We spent this beautiful day attending a live burn drill and training in Dorset. While no one ever wants to see a fire like this, we’re grateful to Dorset Fire for organizing and hosting the training so we can stay ready to serve our communities.

There was plenty of hard work and learning, but since this wasn’t an emergency, it also gave us a chance to slow down, connect, and capture a few behind-the-scenes moments.

We also want to take a moment to thank the families at home who make it possible for us to serve — your support means everything.

Finally, a huge thank you to Cambridge Fire for ensuring coverage in our station while we trained.

Today was one of the best days of the whole year! Fire Prevention Day at Fisher and Sunderland Elementary, AMHS and Arlington Area childcare for hosting our department and Arlington Rescue to show fire safety, smoke alarm and safety plans reminders as well as getting to explore the trucks.
As always thanks to the firefighters who took time off work to come and spend time together and educate students valuable reminders

A special thanks to our cadets: Kierra, Bryce, Caylie, Abby and Landon for their service to their community while also managing school, jobs and multiple sports.
