❣ Fostering saves lives!! ❣ It helps pets who need a little more TLC before finding their furever homes! Like this adorable kitten Hazel, who came into the shelter as a stray and was too small and young to be placed immediately up for adoption. Instead of spending weeks in the shelter, she got to live the best life with the wonderful Ventimiglia family before going up for adoption and finding her forever home!

AAS is currently working with Best Friends Animal Society through a mentorship program focused on growing and expanding our Foster Program and we need your help! Please take a few minutes to complete the Community Foster Program Survey. You do not need to be a volunteer, foster, or someone even interested in fostering to complete this survey. It is open for anyone and everyone and we are hoping to gain more knowledge on areas we should focus on with the feedback you provide us! All surveys are completely anonymous, and we will not be in contact with you unless you ask us to at the end of the survey. Help us make a difference in the lives of homeless pets who need us the most!

❣Our shelter hours are a little different this week! Please note the Arlington Animal Services Center is closing at 4pm tomorrow, December 24th. The shelter will be closed December 25th and 26th. We will reopen for normal operations Monday, December 28th.❣ 🎄

‼At this time we also want to make you familiar and aware of things to do when the shelter is closed:‼

‼After-hours emergency?
Emergencies include: loose aggressive animals, injured animals, animals that are loose and have bitten a human, animals in traffic, wildlife inside a home. If you have an after-hours emergency or emergency when the shelter is closed please call 9-1-1.

‼Missing pet?
Visit ➡ https://arlingtontx.gov/lostandfoundpets. Update your pets microchip information as soon as possible. Create a free PAWBOOST alert. Post in lost and found groups on Facebook and in your neighborhood NextDoor site. Social media is a great way to inform your neighbors and get their help in searching for your missing pet!
Visit ➡ ttps://arlingtontx.gov/straypets. An intake picture of every animal who enters the shelter is taken upon arrival and this site updates automatically, even when the shelter is closed.

‼Found pet?
Check for identification. Check for a collar and a tag and remember, some pets have a collar with the phone number stitched in. Take a photo of the pet. Post the photo on NextDoor and in your neighborhood social media groups. Most stray pets tend to stick close to home. Create a PAWBOOST post. PawBoost is a free lost and found reporting system that Arlington Animal Services has partnered with. Think of it like an Amber Alert for lost and found pets. You can create your free found pet alert at https://arlingtontx.gov/lostandfoundpets.

🐾Looking to adopt after the holidays?
Visit www.arlingtontx.gov/adoptablepets. Here you will see a list of pets waiting to find their furever homes! This website updates automatically as animals are being made available for adoption, and they are removed once they have been adopted.

We are so excited to share that Arlington Animal Services has once again partnered with our friends at Best Friends Animal Society through a mentorship program focused on FOSTERING!

Our goal is to increase our knowledge of new and innovative ways of fostering, to expand our program, and focus on the animals who need our help the most! Now we need YOUR help!

Will you take just a few minutes to complete our short, 12-question, community foster program survey? Anyone who follows Arlington Animal Services is encouraged to participate in this survey! You do not need to be a resident of Arlington. This survey is completely anonymous and we ask for as much feedback as you can give. This survey will help us determine the areas we want to focus on while working with Best Friends Animal Society.

❣❣❣ I'm going to try to put into words the way our hearts are feeling right now. ❣❣❣

We have said it time and time again… working at an animal shelter, we never know what each day will bring. Today we are brought to tears…. but not because of sadness. Today, our hearts are filled with so much gratitude, joy, love, appreciation, happiness and just hope. Because today, an anonymous person walked into our shelter and gave a $10,000 donation towards the treatment of our heartworm positive dogs!!!!!!!

One giant act of kindness that is going to change the lives of so many deserving dogs.
Dogs that are overlooked time and time again, for no other reason, than the fact they are heartworm positive. Dogs who are so deserving of a second chance at an amazing new life!!!!!

I've been struggling with the words to say, but ultimately there are no right words that can begin to describe how grateful our hearts are today. No words to say how much this truly means to all of us, but especially for dogs like Sandy, whose Christmas WISH has been answered as she is officially the FIRST of many dogs who are lucky enough to have their treatment fully sponsored!!!! ❤

❣️SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT❣️
A very special #AASAlumni is officially a STAR! Let's rewind a little... back to February 3, 2020...... The day a special dog named Panda came into the shelter. Coming in as a lost, stray dog, she was absolutely terrified and unsure of her surroundings in the shelter, ultimately making her a VIP Rescue Only Pet once her hold time was complete. Her desire to be next to people, plus her unique "panda" markings made us all fall in love with her even more!

A dedicated shelter volunteer shared Panda's picture on the PAAS Instagram page with the caption, "Have you ever wanted to hug a panda?🐼" which helped grab the attention of rescue partner's, including our friends at Cody's Friends Rescue, who ultimately brought her into their rescue organization. Panda and her adorable post also gained national attention and was shared by @USSHELTERPETS! (A national non-profit organization dedicated to helping fur friends around the US find furever homes!) Well you are probably wondering, why are we sharing this story with you now…….....................
GET READY :)……...................................

The group USSHELETERPETS put together a 2021 U.S. Shelter Pets Calendar and our girl PANDA earned a spot as May's featured shelter pet!! And it gets even better…. All sale profits will go to the 12 shelters of featured pets-- which includes Arlington Animal Services!!

To get your 2021 U.S. Shelter Pets calendar head to ➡ https://www.createphotocalendars.com/Store/2021+U+S+Shelter+Pets+Calendar-7957288767?s=2209

Here are a few of our favorite PANDA pictures from her time in the shelter, to her foster home, to her fuever home!

A huge thank you to our shelter volunteers, dedicated fosters and amazing rescue partners who help make a difference in the lives of shelter pets like Panda, EVERY SINGLE DAY! ❤🐾🐾

Sandy is wishing to be in a furever HOME for the PAWLIDAYS!!!

This sweet girl is 5 years old and weighs 57 pounds. She greets staff with those fully body wags we love so much, but it is her smiley face and fun personality that we love the most. Sandy is super smart and walks well on a leash and knows the commands sit and shake. She loves playing fetch and is greeting other dogs in the shelter with play bows and excitement wanting to play.

Sandy is a VIP pet because she tested positive for heartworm disease. Heartworm disease is a treatable condition and any staff member can give you more information including low cost treatment options available in the area. Since Sandy is a VIP Pet, her adoption fee is just $25! Her animal ID# is 46257647

"Blue" has been adopted!!💙 Blue was our first adoption of the day and was adopted by the wonderful family that found him!! When Blue came in he had a large tumor that our Veterinarian was able to remove! After he healed up, Blue became available for adoption. His new family told us, "He got along wonderfully with their 2 other dogs, a German Shepherd, and a Lab. She and her fiancée wanted to keep him but he had a microchip so she left him with us, and called us to check on his status. She came in yesterday, and then came in this morning to adopt him"!! We could not be happier to see Blue get such a great home. Thank you so much Rios Family!!🐾❤️

After a short break in the action, we are BACK with a brand new edition of #FureverFriday!!
This is Veronica Lanier. She works in our Records Division, helping businesses and citizens get the various permits they request. And she'd like you to meet her pal Peter, a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix!!
Peter is a BIG fluffy, boy. He's a very friendly dog who will sit and shake when properly motivated (he digs the treats!). He can be a bit of a rascal though. At one point during our photo shoot, he decided things were moving a bit slowly for his taste -- so he snagged our camera bag to get us moving 😎
If you'd like to give Peter a "furever home," you can visit him at City of Arlington, TX - Animal Services, which is located at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd.
All adoptions are only $50 for the holidays!!
Be sure to give shelter staff Peter's ID number when you arrive: 46176713

Our fur baby is STILL missing since Nov. 22nd in Cedar Hill!! We've had an anonymous person tell us he was being sold and they seen him in person. There was no photos for proof and they wanted money up front. To my other "lost pet parents" please BEWARE of SCAMS! There are some heartless people out there and I know people will turn ugly around the holidays😔 They're telling people the dog is stolen and must stay indoors. We will give a REWARD 🏅 for his return. His health is at risk and I PRAY someone just turns him in to the shelter so I can pick him🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Hi everybody, I'm just here trying to make my next project possible, if you have any property that you want to sell, I can help you, any condition, any area, doesn't matter how much work it needs, we can work together, just PM me. You have a nice day.
