Last week, the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) to provide Mental Health First Aid for Public Safety training to members of our staff. This training equips public safety professionals with practical tools to recognize and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges. Participants learned how to provide initial support to someone who may be struggling and help connect them with appropriate care and resources. Designed specifically for public safety personnel, the training also recognizes the unique experiences and challenges of those working in the field and provides skills that can be used to support the people we serve, as well as our colleagues.
We appreciate our partnership with NIC and the opportunity to bring this valuable training to our staff as we continue investing in their professional development, wellness, and ability to serve our community with compassion and care.
