Starting the first week of September and ending right before Christmas these 23 recruits started and finished the 2024 JTG Recruit Academy.

Studying at home, coming in early to practice and attending classes on Monday nights, Wednesday nights, Every Saturday and most Sundays.

They did all this while also working their regular jobs. Showing true dedication and professionalism while learning to be firefighters.

We want to thank the The Tulalip Tribes for allowing us to have our graduation at the Tulalip Gathering Hall. This is a beautiful facility and we are very honored and grateful that we can celebrate our recruits here.

To the recruits of JTG Class 2024 congratulations!!!!

Recruit Class 2024 has officially ended! The recruits finished today with their final certification testing.

The recruits started in the first week of September and have spent countless hours on Monday and Wednesday Nights, Saturdays, and a handful of Sundays along with all the hours at home studying. That all ended today, they all can take a little break just in time for the holidays.

A lot of them will be going to EMT class next, some have applied for JTG agencies, while some have already started. We wish all of them the best of luck in their future in the fire service.

Congratulations, you all should be proud of yourselves!

The 2024 Academy is getting to the end of their firefighter 1 and 2 training.

Tonight they are doing night time MCO (multi company operations) combing some of the skills they have learned in the previous 3 months into one night.

The recruits start their testing this Sunday and will then transition to Haz-Mat testing in December.

As we are wrapping up the 2nd month of the academy we finished with hose handling and live fire training.

A big thanks to you again to Camano Island Fire and Rescue for letting us come train at your facility for our live fire training and to Tulalip Bay Fire Department for providing the recruits transportation to Camano Island.

These last two weeks the recruits were at Granite Falls Fire’s training facility for their hose training. The recruits have also trained at Snohomish County Fire District #22, Snohomish County Fire District 19, Snohomish County Fire District 21 and we will have some training taking place at Snohomish County Fire District #4. As you can see it takes all of us working together to help train the future of the fire service.

The recruits have 2 months left until they graduate, they will finish up their fire training this month and next month will be on to Hazardous Materials Operations training.

A great reminder to us all!

Many never improve because they don’t want their brothers and sisters to know how much they don’t know and can’t do.

They figure if I don’t try to improve in front of them, they will assume I am good to go.

Wrong.

No matter how much you think you are hiding your deficiencies, they know they are there, and what many don’t realize is that that’s where real respect is lost.

Your brothers and sisters know you're putting your feelings ahead of the mission when you don’t put your ego aside, fail a bit, and work to get better.

You can’t hide, so you might as well do the work to improve.

Our desire to be great firefighters must be stronger than our fear of failure.

You must accept that embarrassment is part of the process.

Get over yourself and get better.

JTG Academy 24-1, Week 3 recruits are learning about oriented search. They are learning how to search a building filled with smoke, no visibility, how to locate victims in the building and how to remove them.

Each day and week builds off of each other to work towards being mission ready firefighters.

Today is the first full day of the 2024-1 JTG recruit academy. There are 25 recruits who are starting their journey into the fire service.

We are excited to see them grow and learn to be great firefighters.
