Once again, last night's CHA "Virtual Happy Hour" relit great memories and connections for Center House Mess Mates whose tours began in/around 1997-1998. Catching up and swapping stories was the word of the day for all attendees -- clearly a hit of a videoconference, yet again!

FYI, CHA is scheduling additional VHHs with other MBWO year groups in the upcoming months. If you would like to help coordinate a Center House Happy Hour for your own year group, just let us know! #CHA #MBW

Eight currently-serving and alumni USMB Officers met over the airwaves today to enjoy each other's company again, to get caught up with duty assignments and family news, and to swap hilarious stories of great times together! The fun times rolled freely -- and in fact this photo pretty much represents the state of play throughout the nearly 2-hour Virtual Happy Hour! Great fun indeed!

Eight '90-'91 MBW alumni officers from all across America -- Tennessee, Missouri, and Connecticut, as well as from the Northern VA/Maryland area -- enjoyed a great (2-1/2 hour!) Great self-served libations of all varieties, incredible sea stories, and that special camaraderie shared by Center House mess mates since 1801... it was as close as you can get to being right back in the Drum Room!

On July 29th, fourteen Center House alumni (and several spouses) from the 1960’s era came together for a virtual happy hour. Toasts were made, stories were told (some of which were actually true!), and old friends caught up with each other. Center House Association supports the Barracks Commanding Officer in perpetuating the privileges and traditions of the Center House Officers’ Mess while fostering camaraderie and a deep appreciation of the history and honor of serving at the “Oldest Post of the Corps". If you want to help organize a virtual happy hour for your own Center House era, please let us know; it is a great way to reconnect with former mess mates.

Feel free to share this update with your friends who may not yet be aware of and connected with CHA. Let’s foster some camaraderie – Cheers!

On Wednesday, 29 April, 10 alumni from the 1999-2000 era Center House mess enjoyed each other's company again via a virtual Happy Hour. There were several silver mugs in attendance and the smoking lamp was lighted for those who like cigars. Great to catch up with old friends and mess mates to foster a little camaraderie. We are hosting the 2001-2002 era tonight and 1988-1989 next week. If you want host your own era Center House happy hour, drop us a note so we can compare contact information. Happy Birthday, Marine Barracks, Washington, D. C.! Photos from the celebration of the 217th Birthday of the Barracks, held on 29 March 2018 on Center Walk and in Truman Crawford Hall. The ACMC, General Glenn M. Walters, inspired us as the guest speaker, the weather could not have been finer, and the spirit of celebration and camaraderie between generations of Barracks Officers was palpable. The photos say it all!

8 January 2018
From: Lieutenant General Ron Christmas, USMC (Ret), President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Center House Association
To: Members and Prospective Members
Subject: CHA 2017 Annual Report
I am pleased to report that we continued to make significant progress in rejuvenating the Center House Association (CHA) in 2017 by offering our membership great events that allow us to relive the fond memories of our time at the oldest post of the Corps and to meet today’s Barracks officers. This year marked the 200th anniversary of the establishment of Center House as the Officers Mess and we held a highly successful Center House Bicentennial Celebration on October 20-21, 2017. See our CHA Website for a full report of this great event. Earlier in the year, on March 31st, we conducted our annual CHA Luncheon to celebrate the Marine Barracks 216th Birthday. We also sponsored two well received professional military education (PME) presentations in support of the command’s annual PME Program.
In 2018, we will continue that progress starting with our Annual CHA Luncheon in conjunction with the Marine Barracks’ 217th Birthday on Thursday, 29 March 2018 and, again, sponsor several PME Discussions throughout the year. The PMEs are conducted in the Truman Crawford Band Hall and are followed by a reception featuring our now famous Center House Ale. Watch for “CHA Email Blasts” to follow with dates and speakers. We will again end the year with our Annual BBQ following parade season. These are great events that I hope you will place on your calendars when the dates are posted. Also, don’t forget that you can obtain tickets to the Friday Evening Parades and enjoy the Center House Mess at the conclusion of the parade when the 2018 Parade Season rolls around. Please see our web site at www.centerhouse.org to learn more our upcoming events and the benefits of membership.
We will conduct a CHA Membership Campaign in 2018 with a number of initiatives that we hope will increase our ranks, as well as continue to hold our very popular CHA Luncheon, Annual BBQ, PME’s and other projects to enhance the Center House experience for those fortunate to serve or have served at the oldest post of the Corps. To stay in the attack, we need you to maintain your membership through payment of your annual dues and to join us at the great activities we offer our members. I also ask that you reach out to those with whom you served at the Barracks and encourage them to join CHA. Annual dues are just $35.00 and we have added a lifetime and other membership opportunities. Of course, any additional contribution that you might wish to make, plus additional members whom you bring aboard, will ensure that 2018 is another great year for CHA. Sign up and dues payment are easy on our web site.
I hope to see you at our upcoming events. Remember, our Board of Directors meets at the Center House and you are very welcome and encouraged to attend. Our next meeting is scheduled at 0900, Saturday, 10 March 2018. Subsequent meeting dates will be posted along with the minutes of each meeting on www.centerhouse.org.
Semper Fidelis!

Perpetuating the special privileges and traditions of the Center House Officers' Mess while fostering camaraderie and a deep appreciation of the history and honor of serving at the "Oldest Post of the Corps"!

Fellow Officers (current and former) of the Oldest Post,

As we continue to march into 2018, the Center House Association reflects back on an incredible 2017, during which we continued to support the mission of the Barracks while also reconnecting with old friends and families at several CHA-sponsored events. Thanks to our growing membership, we continue in our mission to perpetuate the traditions of the Marine Corps' oldest Officer's Mess. Our President and Chairman, LtGen Ron Christmas, has penned the attached annual report for 2017 detailing our successful year for your review. You may also click here to review it online:http://www.centerhouse.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/CHA-2017-Annual-Report.pdf

Our successful 2017 is the result of our energized members reaching out to past generations of officers with whom they served, making each year's birthday celebration, Fall BBQ, or quarterly PME, a great reunion of friends. We those who are not yet members to consider taking advantage of this great opportunity to reunite and network with officers of multiple generations.

We have adopted (3) memberships levels:
- Annual Member: $35/year
- 10-year Membership: $350/10-years
- Lifetime Member: $750 (one time payment)

If you are a new member, we ask you to click here to enter your Barracks profile: http://centerhouse.org/join/

If you are an existing member, you may renew your dues or simply make a tax deductible donation here: http://centerhouse.org/members/pay/

Stay in touch via social media, as well:

Thank you for making 2017 a year of great achievements. With your support, we can make 2018 a more exciting and rewarding year for all our members.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon at the Oldest Post.
