Big-time recognition for Donelson Elementary! 💡✨
After a two-year journey of growth, innovation, and collaboration, DES has officially earned the Tennessee STEAM Designation - an honor that recognizes schools leading the way in hands-on, real-world learning across the state.
This didn’t happen overnight. DES took feedback, leveled up, and got to work - expanding project-based learning, strengthening community connections, and creating meaningful career-focused experiences for students. From drone and 3D printing clubs to an expanded STEAM Night, the opportunities to explore, create, and problem-solve are everywhere.
Even more powerful? At least half of DES’s projects now connect directly to the community - bringing learning to life in ways that matter beyond the classroom.
With a dedicated STEAM leadership team, a shared engineering design process, and a commitment to blending the arts into STEM, DES is building a culture where every student has the chance to think bigger and create boldly.
Behind it all is a team of educators who said “yes” to doing things differently - collaborating across grade levels, reimagining instruction, and creating experiences that truly engage every learner. It’s a full-school effort, and it shows in every classroom.
And at the center of it all? Students who are curious, confident, and ready to take on real-world challenges.
