Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department

Our mission is to provide emergency medical services and safety education to promote the health and well-being of our community.

Since 1925, the members of the Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department have provided both fire and emergency medical services to the citizens of the City of Falls Church and the surrounding Northern Virginia community.

Congratulations to our newly elected Trustees: Adriana Palacios and Lieutenant Terry Bingham! 🚑

Adriana joined FCVFD in 2017 and serves as an EMT, ambulance driver, Attendant in Charge, and Trustee. She previously served as a Lieutenant, department Secretary, and department President for six years. Terry joined FCVFD in 2025 and serves as an EMT, ambulance driver, and Training Officer. He also serves on our membership team and was recently promoted to Lieutenant.

Our full slate of elected officers for the 2026–2027 fiscal year is:

Treasurer Rita Wells

And the members of our Board of Trustees are Brian Miller, Jim O’Dowd, Julia “JJ” Elliott, Gabriel Spiro, Don Weinberg, Adriana Palacios, and Terry Bingham.

Congratulations to Adriana and Terry on their new roles and to all of our officers and trustees. We are thankful for their leadership!

Recruit School 26-02 is underway! 🚑

Eight EMTs are beginning our recruit school process, where they’ll learn the equipment, procedures, and skills specific to FCVFD and prepare to put them into practice, caring for patients in the field.

The next few months will bring plenty of learning and hands-on training. We’re looking forward to seeing this class take on the challenge!

💌 We received some very special mail from the children of The Falls Church, an Episcopal Congregation

We’re grateful for these thoughtful letters and their kind words for our local first responders. Their messages brought plenty of smiles to the station, and we truly appreciate the time they took to share them with us. It means a lot to our members to have such wonderful support from our community.

Last week, FCVFD had the pleasure of attending the Sunrise Falls Church First Responders Breakfast. 🚑👮🚒

Thank you to Sunrise Senior Living for hosting this thoughtful event and recognizing the individuals who serve our community each day. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with our fellow Falls Church first responders and to serve alongside such a dedicated public safety team.

Earlier today, FCVFD was on scene to assist the Arlington County Fire Department with rebab for firefighters responding to the incident described in the post below. Our thoughts and prayers are with the firefighter recovering from injuries sustained in the response.

Last night, FCVFD members gathered for our Annual Meeting to connect with one another, hear updates from department leadership, and elect our officers for the 2026–2027 fiscal year. 🚑

A huge thank you to The Falls VA for generously donating dinner for the evening! 🍗🥘 We planned to get a photo of our plates, but the wings, pulled pork, mac and cheese, cornbread, and all the tasty sides disappeared before we had the chance. Everything was absolutely delicious!

If you haven't been, be sure to check them out! They're one of the many great local restaurants participating in Falls Church Restaurant Week beginning August 21. We appreciate their support of our volunteers and our community. ❤️

Last night, our ambulance crew was on standby at Civic Jam in Cherry Hill Park, hosted by City of Falls Church Government! 🚑

We enjoyed seeing neighbors, families, community organizations, and local nonprofits come together for an evening of live music and summer fun celebrating our diverse community and our country’s 250th anniversary.

Thank you to the City of Falls Church and to everyone who came out to celebrate the Little City. 🎉

Our hearts are with our partners at the Arlington County Fire Department during this incredibly difficult time. Today is a sad day for the fire service.

Our crews always appreciated Larry for his kindness, infectious smile, and joyful spirit. He made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest easy, brother. You will be deeply missed.

On behalf of the Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department, we extend our deepest condolences to Larry’s family, friends, and all of our brothers and sisters at the Arlington County Fire Department. We are keeping you all in our thoughts during this difficult time.
