WE ARE….. saving lives!!! Penn State Alumni Association Washington D.C. Chapter is hosting a blood drive with Children's National Hospital! 🏥🩸

🩸Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a global blood shortage for whole blood.

🩸One pint of blood can help as many as 4-5 kids.

🩸The entire blood donation process takes ~30-35 minutes.

🩸All blood collected will remain at Children's National Hospital to help premature babies, patients with cancer, blood disorders, sickle cell disease, and who are undergoing surgery.

Join onboard the Capital Elite, a two-level yacht, for a 3 hour cocktail style event on April 30th 2022! This will feature an open beer and wine bar, light passed fare, and stunning views around D.C.


Tickets are $140 which include the open bar with access to purchase raffles and the silent auction. A portion of all ticket sales & proceeds from our raffle/silent auction will be donated directly to Penn State THON in the fight against pediatric cancer.

We ask that those attending show up around 6:40pm as boarding starts at 6:45pm on April 30th. The yacht will depart promptly at 7pm from the Wharf for a night of cruising down the Potomac and will return around 10pm.


Spots are limited, so don’t delay in purchasing your ticket. We will send out more information about raffles and parking closer to the event and look forward to seeing you there!

March Madness is here, and just because Penn State didn't make this year's tournament doesn't mean we can't still have some fun with it!

Join the Metro Washington Chapter's bracket tournament benefiting our scholarship fund. Enter as many times as you please! The entry fee for your first bracket will be $15, but you can submit as many additional brackets as you wish for $5/piece to increase your odds of winning. The money will all be collected into a pool: 50% of the total will go to the winner and the other 50% will go to our chapter scholarship fund, which helps deserving, local students cover the costs of their Penn State education. Therefore, the more brackets that are entered, the more everyone wins, so be sure to invite your friends!


Following your ticket purchase, you will receive an email from our Scholarship committee with login information for our private ESPN group where you will submit your bracket(s). You will be able to track your point total and ranking vs. other submissions throughout the tournament.

New to March Madness?

Don't worry - it's called that for a reason! Even if you've never made an NCAA basketball tournament bracket before, you probably have just as good a chance to win as anyone else. "March Madness" is known for how unpredictable the game outcomes are, so even if you don't know a thing about college basketball, all it may take is a few lucky guesses.


Here's how it works: on our ESPN group page, you will see a bracket of the nearly 6-dozen men's college basketball games that will be played over a 3-week period, starting on Sunday, March 13. Before then, you will "fill out your bracket" - ie: predict the winner of every single game in the tournament. Each round, the more games you predict correctly, the more points your bracket will earn. Rankings of all of the brackets submitted through our tournament will be updated live on the page, and after the championship game is played, the bracket that racked up the most total points over the tournament will win our contest! To increase your chances of having the winning bracket, you are able to submit as many additional entries as you would like ($5 each). [All entries should be under the same email address you used to purchase your entries!]
