Yesterday afternoon, Getchell firefighters assisted our neighbors at Snohomish County Fire District 21 with a structure fire in the south end of their district. Units arrived to find a working fire in an accessory dwelling unit located close to a larger home. Crews were able to quickly control the fire and protect the exposed house from any significant damage.

We appreciate our partnerships with neighboring fire departments and value the ability to work together to best serve our communities.

Getchell Firefighters, along with mutual aid partners, are currently on scene of a detached shop fire in the 10800 block of 107th Ave NE in Arlington.

Crews arrived to find a fully involved detached shop with multiple nearby structures at risk of exposure. Firefighters acted quickly to protect the main residence and neighboring properties.

Damage was largely contained to the original structure thanks to coordinated efforts between our crews and assisting agencies.

One involved patient was transported by EMS to a local hospital.

Please avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to continue working safely. We will provide updates as more information becomes available. The cause and origin is being investigated by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office.

As always, we appreciate the support of our community and our mutual aid partners who respond alongside us when these incidents occur.

We would like to thank a very generous Getchell Community for all of the food donations that came in this last week at our Holiday Open House and Santa Run.

Seeing all the smiles on everyone’s faces and knowing we are collecting food for a good cause, makes all of the efforts well worth it.

Some of our members have put in a significant number of hours at our Holiday Open house and Santa Run. This is a way for our members to give back to our community and is completely a volunteer detail.

Getchell Firefighters also work 24 hour shifts answering 911 calls for service between the Santa Run/Holiday Open House. Due to all the wild weather we have been experiencing, our members have been working busy shifts with very little rest.

Two of our members recently returned from working 15-16 hour shifts at the Skagit River Flood disaster.

If you see a Getchell Firefighter, tell them Thank You. Every one of them have been working long hours serving our community over the last week.

Thank you Again, and we look forward to next year.

Getchell Firefighters were kept busy all night answering 911 calls for service due to the wind/rain storm.

Many of our citizens are without power today due to a significant number of damaged utility lines.

Line crews with the Snohomish County Public Utility District (PUD)are working on 84th Street between 115th Ave and 123rd Ave restoring utility infastructure and clearing trees from the power lines. That section of roadway is temporarily closed while the PUD is working. A detour is in place.

Two homes on 84th Street sustained significant damage when multiple trees uprooted from water saturated soil and slammed onto the homes roofs.

Fences were observed knocked down from the powerful winds throughout the fire district this morning.

In one case the top 20 feet of a tall cedar tree broke off and the base impaled into a water saturated ditch. The tree rested straight up, and at first glance it looks like a 20 foot cedar tree growing out of the ditch.

Plenty of Christmas decoration casulties were also observed throughout the fire district.

Luckily no reportable injuries or death within our fire district as a result of this crazy wind and rain storm.

Due to current and forecasted weather we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Santa Run tonight Tuesday December 16th.

A high wind warning as well as heavy rain is expected and that will likely keep our Firefighters busy tonight handling 911 calls for service.

We also want everyone to stay safe and dry. The already saturated ground coupled with high winds could bring down trees and powerlines creating a potentially dangerous situation for those who venture outside.

We will evaluate the most up to date forecast tomorrow morning and let everyone know if the Santa Run will resume Wednesday night.

If we missed you on the Santa Run or our Holiday Open House we will accept non perishable Food Donations at the Getchell Fire Station located at 8424 99th Ave NE until December 23rd 5:00pm.

Please stay safe!
