The mission of the Getchell Fire Department is to compassionately take care of people by proactively solving both complex and simple problems that are both emergent and non emergent in nature with the highest degree of skill, pride, and professionalism.

Over the last few days, you may have noticed some unusual activity around the station. We are conducting our annually required hose and ladder testing.

This testing helps make sure the equipment our crews rely on is safe, dependable, and ready when needed. Keeping complete testing records also helps support better WSRB insurance ratings, which lead to better insurance rates for the people we serve.

It may not be the most exciting work we do, but it is an important part of being ready for the next call.

This morning, crews spent time completing Ongoing Training and Evaluation Program (OTEP) requirements. OTEP is Washington’s statewide continuing education program that allows EMTs to maintain their certification through ongoing hands-on training.

Today’s training focused on patient restraint, trauma care, and splinting. Regular training like this helps ensure our crews are ready to provide safe, effective care when you call 911.

Happy Fourth of July from Getchell Fire!

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday.

A special thanks to our duty crews this weekend, as well as the firefighters who left their own holiday plans to help with wildfires in Skagit County and the Chelan area. We appreciate them, and their families, for the sacrifice that comes with serving our community and helping our neighbors near and far.

You probably don’t want to see us later tonight, but we’re here if you need us.

Today, crews from Getchell met with our neighbors from Fire District 21’s McElroy Station 50 for our shared quarterly training evolutions.

Training together and standardizing our approaches helps ensure that when we’re working side by side on real emergencies, operations are smoother, communication is stronger, and we can provide the best possible service to our communities.

We appreciate the strong relationships we have with our mutual aid partners. They’re there when we need them, and we’re there when they need us. Those partnerships make all of our communities safer.

Thank you to everyone who came out to this year’s Annual Pancake Breakfast!

We had over 300 people attend and received over $3,000 in donations toward the Getchell Firefighters Association. Those donations help support the Association’s efforts to continually better our ability to provide excellent service to our community.

There were smiles all around, and we sure appreciate everyone who came out, donated, helped, and supported the event.

FYI — Snohomish County’s Stage 1 Burn Ban starts Monday, June 22.

Residential outdoor burning is not allowed during the ban. Recreational and cooking fires are still allowed if they meet the county’s safety rules and are attended at all times.

Please use caution and help prevent brush and wildland fires this summer.

The North Snohomish Joint Training Group Firefighter Recruit Academy is returning for 2026.

With the continued difficulty of finding firefighter academies in our region, we are once again offering a local opportunity for individuals interested in starting a career in the fire service. Whether you are self-sponsored or supported by a fire department, this academy will provide the training necessary to earn IFSAC Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Haz-Mat Awareness, and Haz-Mat Operations certifications.

TRAFFIC HAZARD UPDATE: Roadway is now clear! Thanks Dick's Towing!

Getchell Fire and SCSO onscene of a blocking disabled motor home at the Centennial Trail crossing of 84th St. NE. Tow resources are enroute. This is creating a significant backup of traffic. Avoid the area.
