Stillaguamish Tribe The Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians is the federally recognized tribe of the Stillaguamish people. Tribal headquarters are located in Arlington, Washington.

The Stillaguamish Tribe is composed of descendants of the 1855 Stoluck-wa-mish River Tribe. In 1855 the population resided on the main branch of the river, as well as the north and south forks. The name Stillaguamish, under various spellings, has been used since around 1850 to refer to those Indians who lived along the Stillaguamish River and camped along its tributaries. They were a party to the

treaty of Point Elliott of January 22, 1855 under the spelling Stoluck-wa-mish. No separate reservation was established for the Stoluck-wa-mish Indians. Some moved to the Tulalip Reservation, but the majority remained in the aboriginal area along the Stillaguamish River.

Today we cut the ribbon on the brand new Jensen Park Pump Track!

A huge thank you to the City of Arlington for their great work on this. My office was proud to help fund the project along with several other partners, including the Rotary Club of Arlington, WA, Amazon, the Stillaguamish Tribe, and the City of Arlington, Washington - Government.

Nothing happens without great partnerships and this project is a testament to that. My kids can't wait to try out the pump track! 🚴

The Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians is leading one of Washington’s most significant Indigenous-led environmental restoration projects—helping restore a river system that has sustained Tribal communities for generations.

Over the past 15 years, the Tribe has invested approximately $12 million to purchase nearly 2,000 acres of former farmland near the mouth of the Stillaguamish River. The goal is to restore historic tidal wetlands and reconnect parts of the river’s natural floodplain that were altered by levees and agricultural development beginning in the late 1800s.

By restoring these wetlands, the project creates critical habitat for juvenile Chinook salmon, improves water quality, strengthens flood resilience, and supports countless species that depend on healthy estuaries.

For the Stillaguamish Tribe, the effort reflects generations of Indigenous stewardship—caring for the land and waters while helping ensure they remain healthy for future generations.

It is a powerful reminder that protecting Indigenous homelands often means protecting the ecosystems that benefit everyone.
