We've come a long way since the NCTCOG 9-1-1 Program was first established 30 years ago. Now we're a district with a local board of mangers, serve over 1.7 million people, support 600 telecommunicators, and we're still moving forward. We looked back at the major accomplishments of both NCT9-1-1 and the 9-1-1 industry in our 30 year anniversary timeline video. We can't wait to see where we'll be in the next 30 years.

We're hiring! NCT9-1-1 is committed to saving lives and making a difference, and we need to expand our team to do it! We're looking for a 9-1-1 Technology Specialist III. The 9-1-1 Technology Specialist III provides field support to customer premises equipment (CPE) in NCT9-1-1’s 7x24x365 mission critical environment, including possible after hours, weekend, and holiday work, as well as on call rotation. This position is responsible for preventative and reactive maintenance and quality control of applications and CPE residing in our 9-1-1 call centers and data centers. The position works under minimal supervision and must be experienced in the areas of networking, knowledge of structured wiring, basic telephony knowledge, Windows based servers, workstations and operating systems, VoIP, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. In 2019, Texas was the first state to reclassify 9-1-1 telecommunicators from clerical workers to first responders. 9-1-1 Quality Assurance Coordinator and PSAP Liaison Brittney Burross talks about what this means for the future of reclassification.

On December 3, 2018, the North Central Texas Council of Governments 9-1-1 Program became the North Central Texas Emergency Communications District. Strategic Services Manager Jessie Shadowens-James talks about why that meant more local control and how this transition benefited the public.
