Our thoughts are with the Burleson Police Department.

Communications Specialist Norilisse Serrano passed away Saturday, May 16th while working the 911 console at BPD. As you may know, Telecommunicators were designated as first responders during the 86th Legislature, but benefits for them were not established. Nori, as she was known spent 14 years serving the Mansfield and Burleson communities so we hope you will support her family by purchasing a t-shirt designed for her.

Back the Blue HQ will be selling these shirts at BPD, 1161 SW Wilshire tomorrow, Thursday, May 28th from 5-8:00 PM. The shirts are $10 each and sizes range from adult small- adult 3X. Cash and credit cards will be accepted and all proceeds will benefit Nori’s family.

If you want to purchase a t-shirt but can’t make it to BPD on Thursday, you may order online beginning Friday, May 29th and the shirt will be shipped. A shirt can be ordered online at www.backthebluehq.com. There will be an extra cost for shipping.

A special celebration for our Erath County Telecommunicators!

Today Sheriff Coates and the ECSO Blue Line Family wanted to recognize members of the Sheriff’s office for their accomplishments.

Today we will feature our communication division also known as Dispatch. These are the men and women who work tirelessly answering the phone every time there is a need. They are seldom seen or thanked for their services to the citizens of Erath County. Pictured is Rusty Jennings receiving his recognition from Sheriff Coates. Also receiving recognition is Sgt. Angela Williams who supervises dispatch, Doris Mc Farlin Kim Johnson and Barbara Thurman. These great people are being recognized for their years of service in law enforcement and or military and the certification they have received while on the Job.

Thank you simply isnt enough for the job our dispatchers and all dispatchers do for their communities.

Though our state is slowly looking to reopen, there is still a lot you can do to help those who need it!

A heads up for our Erath residents!

We wanted to make everyone aware that representatives from Census 2020 will be out in Erath County dropping off bags similar to the one in the picture on door knobs and gates.

They are tasked with assisting in the census. They will be in various makes and models of unmarked vehicles. Each representative will have personal badges identifying themselves as being with the census. They will not be making any personal contact only leaving the bag. Please do not be alarmed if you see them.

As always if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call our office.

9-1-1 Training in Texas is Changing. And We're Meeting the Challenge.

9-1-1 training is evolving, and it's not just because of the coronavirus. Telecommunicators have to be trained beyond the regular, state-mandated courses. So we're changing things up. Read about our new program: Comprehensive Next Generation Training. https://hubs.ly/H0qqYZ40

It's not enough to just teach the state-mandated courses. 9-1-1 telecommunicators need to be well-rounded professionals, and that means expanding their training to include resilience and mental health. Learn more about our new training program here.

We love when public education helps save lives! Text-to-9-1-1 is available throughout the NCT9-1-1 region, but it is not available everywhere. It's always better to call if you can and you should only text if you are Deaf or hard of hearing, have a speech impairment, or if it is unsafe for you to call.

A woman's awareness she could text police for help helped pull her out of a potentially dangerous domestic situation Friday and resulted in the arrest of a man on assault and drug charges.
