The willingness to serve the community and inspire others to their greatest selves is what we do at the Foundation with the help of our supporters. Congratulations to our very own Rex Flynn!

In honor of Black History Month, as well as Presidents' Day on Monday, we celebrate a Virginia first: For the first time ever, the presidents of the Fairfax Bar Association (Donna Banks, left), the Arlington Bar Association (Rex Flynn, center), and the Alexandria Bar Association (Tamika Jones, right) are African American lawyers.
These large Northern Virginia bar associations represent thousands of lawyers, and work tirelessly to enhance access to justice and for the improvement of the legal profession in their communities.
Donna Banks works as the assistant county attorney for Fairfax County. Rex Flynn is the founder of The Flynn Law Firm, specializing in criminal defense and family law. And Tamika Jones is the founder of The Jones Practice, working in family law, criminal, and civil matters.
We applaud these three presidents not only for their leadership, but for their willingness to find the time to serve.
And thank you to The Hon. Gerald Bruce Lee (ret.) for the tip!

The Chair and Board of Directors of the Arlington County Bar Foundation is pleased to announce that Arlington Attorney, Jennifer Brust Thomas, has been awarded the Campbell-Smith-Thompson Award. The award is bestowed annually to a foundation director who has made outstanding contributions, financially and through exceptional effort in supporting the Foundation’s community service activities. First presented in 2012, its name honors three legendary members of the Arlington legal scene: George W. Campbell Jr., Ken McFarlane Smith and Betty Thompson.

Sudeep Bose, who currently chairs the foundation, praised Brust for her skills as a fund raiser and for being a dedicated board member. She is currently the Treasurer of the foundation.

Chairman Bose noted her extensive and selfless hours committed to the improve the community and foster legal services. Jennifer Brust is a partner at the prestigious Arlington law firm, Bean, Kinney & Korman and represents clients in commercial and civil litigation. She has been consistently honored for her legal abilities most recently by Virginia Business magazine as a Legal Elite in Civil Litigation. She received her law degree in 1989 from the George Mason University School of Law where she is currently an adjunct professor teaching Secured Finance.
