🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT: ROAD CLOSURE 🚧

The 1400–1600 blocks of Mayfield Road are completely closed due to a water line leak. Crews are working to address the issue, and there is currently no estimated time for the roadway to reopen.

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT 🚨

UPDATE: The train that was stopped near Bowen Road and Davis Drive is now moving, and traffic should begin clearing in the area.

Drivers are still encouraged to use caution and expect some residual delays as traffic returns to normal.

A Union Pacific train is currently stopped along Division Street while crews work to address an issue with the train.

The train is blocking BOTH the Davis Drive and Bowen Road railroad crossings, impacting northbound and southbound traffic.

⛔ Davis Drive at Division Street — BLOCKED
⛔ Bowen Road at Division Street — BLOCKED

There is currently no estimated time for when the train will be moved and the crossings reopened.

Drivers should avoid the area and use alternate routes. We’ll provide an update when the crossings are clear.

What did the dog say after he heard one of Officer Crocker's dad jokes? "Dude, that's RUFF"😏

It's time for another edition of !

This is the aforementioned Officer Crocker, who is one of our Accident Investigators. And today he'd like you to meet his pal Milk Dud, a 7-year-old Retriever / Lab mix.

Milk Dud is a very chill dude who likes attention and being pet. Shelter staff says he's very good with people, but not as great with cats -- so keep that in mind. But he is sweet guy!

If you'd like to give Milk Dud a "furever" home, you can visit him at Arlington Animal Services, which is located at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd.

The Texas heat is no joke — especially inside a vehicle.

Yesterday, a heat-safety display at our West Arlington Substation recorded an outdoor temperature of 106°F. Inside the vehicle, it reached a dangerous 141°F.

Temperatures inside a parked vehicle can rise quickly, even when it doesn’t feel excessively hot outside. Never leave a child alone in a vehicle — not even for a few minutes.

Thank you to the Center for Community Health at Cook Children’s Healthcare System for providing this powerful visual reminder and helping us share this important child-safety message.

Additional educational materials are available at the front desk of the West Arlington Substation, located at 2060 W. Green Oaks Boulevard.

Crashes like this are a devastating reminder of the consequences of impaired driving.

In 2025, 1,254 people lost their lives on Texas roads in crashes involving impaired driving—an average of more than three people every day. These tragedies are preventable.

From August 14 through September 7, the Arlington Police Department Traffic Unit will participate in Wave 4 of the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program–Impaired Driving Mobilization (STEP-IDM). During this Labor Day enforcement period, officers will conduct increased patrols to identify and remove impaired drivers from our roadways.

If your Labor Day plans include alcohol, make your plan for a safe ride before the celebrations begin.

• Designate a sober driver
• Stay where you are

Have you ever wanted to learn more about what the Arlington Police Department does?

We are now accepting applications for our next Citizens Police Academy, which kicks off on September 14!

This FREE 11-week program gives community members an inside look at APD and an opportunity to learn directly from the officers and units that serve our city. Topics include SWAT, K-9, Crime Scene, UAS, Investigations, Traffic Stops, and more!

Applicants must be 18 or older, be able to pass a background check, and either live or work in Arlington. The deadline to apply is Monday, September 7.
