Youth Leadership
Our program is planned and directed by the youth membership through the Patrol Leaders' Council. The Senior Patrol Leader and other youth leadership are elected to 6-month terms of office. Community Service
We stresses all the points of the Scout Law and we work to build the character of the young men through giving back to our families, community, and faith. Whenever one of our
Scouts leads a service project for his Eagle rank, the entire troop is invited to participate. Additionally, almost every other rank in Boy Scouting requires community service hours for advancement. During the year, we look for other opportunities for service, such as helping with the Kiwanis Club pancake breakfast, assisting at the Montessori School's Fall Festival, celebrating Scout Sunday in February, and volunteering at Mission Arlington in December. Outdoor Activities
We have a strong outdoor and camping program and believes that there's nothing left after you delete the "outing" from "Scouting". We camp out the second full weekend of the month. The Troop's outdoor program is designed to provide the Scouts with fun, new skills, and advancement. Summer Camp
Every summer we go to a weeklong stay at Boy Scout Summer Camp every year. We go to places such as Camp Wehinahpay Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch in the Davis Mountains of west Texas, MK Brown in the Panhandle of Texas, Camp CrisDobbins at Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch in Elbert, Colorado for out of council camps and Worth Ranch here in the Longhorn Council. We try to alternate one year "in council" and the next year "out of council". Summer Camp 2011 will be at Worth Ranch here in the Longhorn Council. High Adventure
We generally does 2-3 high adventure treks each year, one in July and one in December. In December, travel to locations such as Eagle Rock Loop for a short trek of around 20 miles on a 4 day backpack trip. During the summer we schedule longer trips to places such as Sea Base in Florida, Philmont Scout Ranch, Wheeler Peak and Tres Rios in New Mexico. Extra commitment for boys participating in the High Adventure Program is expected for preparation for these types of camping experiences. How to Join
