Independence Day is always a beautiful reminder of the home we love and the liberties we enjoy every single day. But for our family, it is also a deeply personal reminder of the profound cost of that peace.

Adam answered the call of duty with absolute courage, serving as a proud Naval Aviator. The words on this image ring so incredibly true: he is forever honored, forever missed, and forever American.

While we look up at the fireworks and enjoy the blessings of a free nation this weekend, let’s not forget the brave men and women who stood in the gap to protect those freedoms. Adam gave his all, and his sacrifice is woven into the very fabric of the independence we celebrate today.

As we head into the holiday weekend, it’s easy to focus on the barbecues, the fireworks, and the time off with family. But as the classic reminder goes, freedom is not free.

Before the long weekend officially begins, we honor the memory of LT Adam Dyer (04/27/1980 - 01/26/2007).

LT Dyer was a Navy Helicopter Aircraft Commander who tragically lost his life alongside three fellow crew members during an in-flight training mission off the coast of California. The plaque in the picture says it perfectly: he “served to support the freedom you enjoy.”

Every single liberty we celebrate on the Fourth of July—and every peaceful weekend we get to spend with the people we love—was bought and paid for by brave individuals who answered the call.
Please take a moment this weekend to remember LT Adam Dyer, his family, and all of our service members who made the ultimate sacrifice.

On Armed Services Day, we pause to recognize the courage, sacrifice, dedication, and unwavering commitment of those serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force.
Because of their service, we enjoy the freedoms and opportunities we often take for granted. Their strength protects our nation, and their sacrifice deserves our deepest gratitude.

During our visit to Arlington, we had the opportunity to witness a wreath-laying ceremony in remembrance of those who have served and sacrificed so much. It was a deeply moving moment—quiet, respectful, and filled with meaning. Watching the wreath being placed was a powerful reminder of the honor given to those who came before, and the gratitude that continues long after they are gone. Being there, especially while remembering Adam on the anniversary of his burial, made the moment even more personal. It’s something we will carry with us always.

During our visit to Arlington, we had the profound honor of laying a wreath in remembrance of Adam on the anniversary of his burial.
It was a deeply emotional moment—one filled with reflection, gratitude, and love. As the wreath was placed, it felt like a quiet but powerful way to say his name, to honor his sacrifice, and to ensure his memory continues to live on.
There is something incredibly humbling about standing in a place where so many heroes are laid to rest. It reminds us that freedom is never free, and that each life remembered here carries a story that deserves to be told and never forgotten.
