💔 Our hearts are crushed with the loss of longtime LWVAAC member and former President, Kathy Matusiak. Many of you know Kathy was a key leader initiating the Arlington County high school voter registration program in 2015 - still going strong today!
Kathy will forever be a guiding light to our League.

Great turnout today for our voter registration training! 🗳️

A huge thank-you to the Arlington County Office of Elections — Gretchen, Tania, and the whole team — and to Angie and her office in Alexandria, for their partnership and support of our volunteers. Election officials in both jurisdictions do incredible, often thankless work, and we’re grateful to have them as resources for our League year-round.

We also want to acknowledge our partners in this work — Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Moms Demand Action, and everyone else who showed up alongside us today.

And to every volunteer who showed up today: thank you for continuing to give your time to make sure every eligible voter can register and be heard. This work matters.

And if you really want to know how our elections process works from the inside — volunteer to become a poll worker!

One city, one county, one mission — we had tables at Library Fest 250 at Arlington Central Library and the Good Trouble celebration at Alexandria’s Beatley Library.

Wherever the community gathers, we love to be there — registering voters, sharing election information, and answering questions from neighbors.

LWVAAC loves our libraries! 📚❤️ Thank you for hosting us!

The Declaration of Independence: What, How, Why?

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, join us for a thoughtful exploration of the Declaration of Independence and the ideas that shaped the nation’s founding. Together, we will examine what the document says, how it influenced the creation of a new government, and why its principles continue to inspire movements for rights, justice, and equality today. Please join the Fairfax League of Women Voters for this interesting conversation.

3:30 p.m. on July 11 at the Fairfax City Regional Library (10360 North St, Fairfax, VA 22030). Parking garage is under the library.

🎭✨👏🏻 An inspiring matinee show Saturday (6/20) with League members from all across the National Capital region at Suffs.

The performance was powerful, moving, and a reminder of the generations of women who worked to expand participation in our democracy. We were grateful to share the experience with so many fellow League members and supporters. It was truly special.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. 💛💜🤍 Thank you LWVDC and LWVUS! Thank you National Theater & SUFFS cast & crew!
